Recently I learned I have some damage to my neck that prohibits me from riding my motorcycle, lest I risk being paralyzed. I'm very disappointed but I'm so grateful for the experiences I've had.
So, my bike is for sale. If you know anyone who might be interested, please share. Thanks
For Sale:
2009 Yamaha V-Star 650 Silverado. 47,116 miles, but rock solid and runs great. Has had all its scheduled services done.

This bike has been ridden all across the country, from coast to coast. From 2013 to 2016 I lived exclusively on this motorcycle, traveling through 36 states, enduring all kinds of weather, seeing numerous sights, forging dozens of friendships, and camping in so many places. But due to physical ailments, I am forced to give up riding.

She comes with the original windshield, saddlebags, and backrest, which I have taken off but kept in storage. Pictured is a fabricated sissybar made by Danny Guerrero from Torque Spec Garage in San Diego. I also have a set of soft bags from Viking Cycle too. She has a handgrip warmer on the throttle side. Other than that, she's all stock, with factory pipes, factory intake, and factory tuning. All she needs is a detailing, which my body just can not do anymore.

There are some small dings and scratches on her from the thousands of miles ridden across the country. But, she always starts, runs like a banshee, and will make a perfect bike for anyone who needs something light, low seat height, yet sturdy and reliable.

Asking $3,000. Email to shellistovall@gmail.com to set an appointment to see her. She's currently in Murrieta, CA.

Drawn to the Power of Denali
My view of Denali's South and North Peak, the two highest mountain peaks in the North America. Denali has a magnetism so powerful that just the sight of it brought me to tears. The beauty was so profound and its size unfathomable, I was overcome. I wept unc...

Last weekend we went riding with our friends Randal and Kristy. We are visiting them in Cheyenne, WY. They both ride Spyders but Kristy also owns a V Star, just like mine, that she rarely rides because she doesn't have anyone experienced to ride with.
So she took her V Star on Saturday. She did really well for most of the day, but then had an unexpected bump in a parking lot which startled her, then popped the clutch pulling out and stalled in an intersection, all while we watched the guys ride away. They had no idea she was struggling.
You know how it is when things start going wrong. She started overthinking, stressing over the little things and I could see her losing confidence.
Then the unexpectedly tight curve that banked. . . she came in too hot. . . scraped her floorboard. . . overcorrected. . . held on tight and rode it into the dirt. . . highsided.
I was right behind her. It was awful to watch. Just awful.
She has a concussion, no broken bones but a separated shoulder, bumps and bruises, but remarkably doing well. She had good gear on, which really helped because she landed on her forehead.
I'm at a point now where I don't want to ride with anyone except maybe Steve. I don't ever want to see that again. I guess that feeling might pass but right now I don't want to even think about it.

Treating Women Motorcycle Riders As Equals
While I believe these models are gorgeous, I don't think they represent your typical woman rider.  In the motorcycle industry I find few things as disappointing as the use of Promo Girls at motorcycle shows. With the International Motorcycle Show just aroun...

RV Booking Hell
(Warning: This blog post is rated PG-13 for crude/foul language.) Village Camper Inn located in Crescent City was one of the gems of RV parks along the coast. Booking RV reservations is Hell. Seriously, a living Hell. In many ways, this whole RV life I thou...

Alaska, RVing and Work
Atop Turnagain Pass taking a look at a glacier, which you can see in the background. Exploring Alaska is so fantastic because it is truly a land of it's own. The vastness is hard to appreciate until you get on one of the Alaskan highways and venture along. ...
