Alaska, RVing and Work
Atop Turnagain Pass taking a look at a glacier, which you can see in the background. Exploring Alaska is so fantastic because it is truly a land of it's own. The vastness is hard to appreciate until you get on one of the Alaskan highways and venture along. ...

Riding To Happy Camp
Stopped at the abandoned mercantile. It was bustling with activity on my visit 10 years earlier. Since I began riding my own motorcycle, I've felt a great urgency to ride to Happy Camp, CA. I've only been to this remote mining town once before, to attend my...

Question:
Do you wear glasses when you ride? Prescription? Sunglasses? What type? Cost?
What kind of helmet do you have to get them to work together?
I'm looking at new prescription glasses today and it's such a struggle to find new ones that work with my helmet and ginormous head.

This Profile Photo Submission comes with a question.
Do you think it's safe for a woman to have a public GPS tracking her when she is solo moto camping for a few days? Is it good for everyone to know where I'm camping alone? I have had a just a few pervs bug me because I'm rather public with my life, so that's a consideration. Thoughts?
This was taken just a couple of days ago in the Jedediah Smith Redwood Forest on Hwy 199 between Crescent City and Hiouchi. It's only a 5 miles stretch but it's not only twisty, it rolls right through the most gorgeous old-growth, redwood grove. 20' fern covered walls line the road, the canopy of pines and redwoods create that patchy light/shade that make a rider focus hard to readjust vision and the size of the trees want to draw your attention away from the road with awe. I rode this on Friday back and forth 4 times, just because I love that stretch. It's only 3 miles from our campground. I might go ride it again today!

This Profile Photo Submission was taken a couple of years ago along the Oregon Coast. I think we were riding from Klamath, CA to Corvalis, OR this day. It was one of the prettiest ride days I can remember. That's obviously my husband +Steve Johnson on his Honda ST1300.
I often wonder if our photos provoke emotion in others as strongly as they remind us of the emotions we felt taking them. But enough soul-searching bull. . .

I wanted to create my map of States I've Motorcycled. 32 states. I think that's pretty damn awesome. Almost all of these were in the first 3 years of riding.
I'll be SOLO MOTO TENT CAMPING from Verdi, NV to Cheyenne, WY for about 10 days over Labor Day. This is a HUGE step in my riding career. The trip won't add more states to the map, but it will add a huge, new challenge to my life. I'm looking for an app that everyone can access so y'all can watch my progress.
For anyone who has met me you know I'm really a sissy. I'm permanently disabled (according to the U.S. Government) and constantly in pain with my Fibromyalgia. I limp, cry and whine often. But looking at this map I seem to forget I'm disabled.
BTW, I didn't ride TO Alaska, I just rode while I was there. In Hawaii I rode on the back of a rented motorcycle, but I count that one too.

After living on the motorcycles for 2.5 years, I've come to enjoy being somewhat of a minimalist. Now that we're traveling by RV with the motorcycles, we're searching for that balance, but finding great rewards.
Do you ever look around at all of your stuff and wonder how you got so much of it?

Minimalism of Travel
From mid-June to mid-July, this is our home. The picturesque Village Camper Inn in Crescent City, CA is tucked away in the sky-high pines and redwoods and is surrounded by the echos of birds by day and the foghorn from the lighthouse at night. It's beautifu...
