Still Unpacking - Sketch
Still getting settled in the new place. A lot of boxes to unpack. At least the chaos is fun to draw.

Introduction

Commercial Artist

Illustration Portfolio: www.salamunicart.com

I was born in Banja Luka, Bosnia—part of the former Yugoslavia—in 1983. At age nine, shortly after the civil war outbreak, my family moved to Münster, Germany, where we lived for seven years before settling in the United States in 1998. I finished my BFA in Communication Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2006.

I currently live in Richmond, Virginia, where I create commercial illustrations for national and international clients, including: The CFA InstituteDie Zeit, ESPN MagazineGeneral MillsMen's HealthMilitary Officer MagazineMountain DewOakleyPlayboy MagazinePort AuthorityRunner's WorldScholasticThe Washington Post and many more. I have established relationships with clients in each area of the art industry, from editorial illustrations for magazines and comic books to concept art and advertising.

I taught at Virginia Commonwealth University for over four years, instructing: Concept Art, Figure Drawing, Digital Drawing, Type & Image, Sequential Imaging, Senior Project/Studio, Visual Studies: Design and Comics & Graphic Novels. I continue to serve as an educator for rising illustrators through lectures and my blog where I provide advice and show step–by–step processes. My work has received several awards from organizations like: 3×3 Magazine, Creative Quarterly, American Illustration, Richmond Illustrator's Club, Society of Illustrators of NY, Society of Illustrators of LA and Evangelical Press Association.

Unquestionably the best apartment complex in all of Richmond, VA. Beautiful landscaping, clean and modern interiors, superb maintenance service, super friendly office staff, quiet and pet friendly community...everything is perfect. Highly recommended.

Words can't describe just how bad this place is. Calling it a butcher-shop is an understatement. I just returned from a haircut that lasted an hour and a half. I'm a guy with short hair, and typically get the most basic haircut - short all around. My hair was cut by an elderly man with extremely shaky hands who had zero experience in the craft. He stabbed my head more than a dozen times with scissors. The hair was cut a millimeter at a time. A comb was never used. He held scissors with two hands. He completely butchered my haircut, which then needed to be fixed by another stylist. Quite possibly the worst hair cuttery business I've ever been to. Avoid at all costs.
