Introduction

Tim Waller brings over two decades of experience to WYFF News 4, having covered virtually every type of story. He has interviewed Presidents, movie stars and musicians. He's also reported live from the scene of hurricanes, plane crashes, prison riots, labor strikes and hostage situations. His Looking Out 4 You reports, which alert viewers to the latest scams and rip-offs, are consistently some of the most popular and talked about on the station.

Tim’s career in television news began in 1986 as anchor-reporter at WKPT-TV in Kingsport, Tennessee. After that, he worked as a general assignment reporter at WSAZ-TV in Charleston, West Virginia. He also worked as a live field reporter for WBNS-TV in Columbus, Ohio.

Tim joined WYFF 4 in 1994, where his first assignment was to cover the “BB sniper” who was shooting at vehicles along Interstate 85.

Tim has been honored with numerous awards, including a 2008 Emmy in Investigative Reporting for a Target 4 on 911, a South Carolina Associated Press first place award in Investigative Reporting for a piece on social security numbers and a first place AP award in the consumer category for his prison interview with convicted identity thieves. Tim was named South Carolina Reporter of the Year by the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas in both 2006 and 2010.

In addition to his role as a news anchor and reporter, Tim is a dedicated family man. He and his wife Iva have two teenage daughters, Chelsea and Claudia. Tim and his Chihuahua “Coco” are the only boys in the house! The whole family enjoys camping, hiking, bicycling, skiing and heading off on spur-of-the-moment road trips. Tim’s personal hobbies include reading books of all types, and collecting antique typewriters from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
