2013 is looking very good indeed! There are a couple of things going on. First, crop loads have tended to be light this year thanks to the Mother's Day frost back in May - so many vines are focusing more energy on fewer grapes. Second, most of the region has had some phenomenal weather so far. I haven't heard numbers from others yet but I can tell you the cab sauv we dropped in Damascus on Saturday was the best that vineyard has ever produced in terms of brix, physiological ripeness, and lack of disease/insect pressure. I'm happy but I sure wish there were MORE grapes to harvest! That frost was a double-edged sword...

Yep. The best. And may we two-leggers have the courage to learn from them.

Here's a great article that helps cut through the tangle of SOPA to explain why this is such a bad bill as it currently stands. Make no mistake, more needs to be done to protect intellectual property, etc., but if a bill like this one were to pass it would be nothing short of a calamity. This is what happens when legislators don't understand the implications of technology.

Well worth a read if you haven't read SOPA in full or don't fully understand it.

Wow. Very cool. Journey to The Beatles to Pink to Gaga to Tim Minchin to Ah-Ha. You name it, they got it. No Adele, though. How can that be?

Gotta pass it on. Find your sweet spot... :-)

Thoughts of change:

- Go on that trip. Don't postpone it.
- Say those words. Don't let the moment pass.
- Do what you have to, even at society's scorn.
- Write poetry.

- Love deeply.
- Walk barefoot.
- Dance with wild abandon.
- Cry at the movies.
- Take care of yourself. Don't wait for someone to take care of you.

Go for the win.

A wet year for sure, but the wines continue to get better in Maryland. Looking forward to crush ~10 days from now...
