My latest software release:

Pysle, a python interface to the ISLEX dictionary. Can be used to get phone, syllable, and stress information about a word.  Can align different pronunciations of the same word and can syllabify transcripts of natural speech in textgrid format.

I didn't take a lot of photos while I was in Kochi and the ones I took didn't turn out very interesting. I'm uploading these just to document (for myself) that I did go to Kochi.

Introduction
I like video games, particularly jrpgs and quirky titles.

I like movies that have a good story--I don't care for romance or action films.

I like science-fiction and fantasy novels and, for non-fiction, first-person historical accounts.

I like languages but can only speak one.

I like travelling around the world.

As a scholar I'm interested in both human and computer processing of language.  I'm interested in data modeling--right now I work on modeling acoustic features.

I'm also interested in the role language plays in identity.
Bragging rights
I did fieldwork in the oasis of Siwa, Egypt in June 2010 exploring how the Berber community there was affected by the rapid development of their community. I'm not sure if that should be considered "bragging rights" but it was pretty interesting.
