I have been writing software since I was about 15 (Umm that was in 1980 ;-)
I worked for Sun during the 90's. (Worked for them twice in that decade)
I have been designing and building solutions for the web before most people even knew what the web was. I started building my first commercial web application in late 1994. It was in Perl and C and was a web front end to a CICS/COBOL application running on an IBM mainframe. It ran on Sun gear, and communicated with the COBOL app over appc connecting over LU6.2 on token ring. I developed a template language, and data dictionary (by parsing the cobol source code) to describe the data coming from the mainframe. It went live early 1995 and was still running up to 2005.
I discovered zope and python in 2000. Did an awful lot of stuff with it. Since 2001 I have been independently consulting/contracting in IT. Since 2008 most of my work has been focussed on Google's Appengine platform.
I have done heaps of other stuff, from IT manager, performance tuning, all sorts of stuff. Just can't be bothered writing about it ;-)
Since 2006 we have also been building our own business, Swan Valley Fish and Lily Farm. That has been a serious amount of work. The business is running well, but now it's time for me re-enter the IT industry.
