There is no such thing as a stupid question, but there are a lot of inquisitive idiots :)

Nice article on valuing the non-unicorns in your organisation. Sadly, until the accountants and salespeople who have risen to the top of many places learn this valuable lesson, they are destined to a mediocrity of their own making.
Spoiler alert: it will not go well. The other interesting bit is that apparently not everyone has figured out that "productivity" means "how much someone causes good things to happen". If you count only the last part of the marathon, then would you ever value mentoring or improved tools or team cohesion or the multitude of other things that chime in the way to your named goals?

In addition, there are people out there who are constant scaffolding to everyone else. You have to watch out for them, but not because they’re trouble. Because you could be trouble :)

Their individual productivity looks poor, but they’re natural givers. You fire them, as Microsoft did, then the teams they are in, literally collapse overnight. You actually fired the most productive member of the team, who is shoring up everyone else.

Our new study says that the presence of vegetation is an essential factor in limiting urban heating. Cities are well known hot spots because of the presence of asphalt, concrete, buildings and other impervious surfaces that disrupt the natural cooling effect of vegetation: http://go.nasa.gov/1U5jamK #EarthRightNow
