If someone just combined the girlfriend pillow and the tissue-dispensing pillow, they could totally corner the market.

"FDR said in this first State of the Union speech, implausibly, in the midst of massive death by conscription and material privation of war: “I am proud to say to you that the spirit of the American people was never higher than it is today — the Union was never more closely knit together — this country was never more deeply determined to face the solemn tasks before it.”

What Is this “Vision“ stuff?

Just look at those words. Are we really being asked to believe that the American people as a whole have a spirit, and that the president is somehow magically ordained to know its height? That he knows all previous collective spirits in American history and can know for sure, based on his omniscient measuring skills, that it has never been higher? And can a country really be “determined” in the sense that it has a unified will, no different from an individual will, and it acts in history as an aggregate?

There is nothing about this sense that embodies the idea of freedom. “The American spirit” — or the spirit of any people — is not a singular entity but a social order in which millions and billions of individuals have rights and shape their own lives in cooperation with others based on their peaceful choices."
We are right to fear for the souls of people involved in such a hoax.

"Totalitarian science lets you know you’re living in a totalitarian society.

The government, the press, the mega-corporations, the prestigious foundations, the academic institutions, the “humanitarian” organizations say:

“This is the disease. This is its name. This is what causes it. This is the drug that treats it. This is the vaccine that prevents it.”

“This is how accurate diagnosis is done. These are the tests. These are the possible results and what they mean.”

“Here are the genes. This is what they do. This is how they can be changed and substituted and manipulated. These are the outcomes.”

“These are the data and the statistics. They are correct. There can be no argument about them.”

“This is life. These are the components of life. All change and improvement result from our management of the components.”

“This is the path. It is governed by truth which our science reveals. Walk the path. We will inform you when you stray. We will report new improvements.”

“This is the end. You can go no farther. You must give up the ghost. We will remember you.”"

"...in so far as society itself is composed of de-individualized persons, it is completely at the mercy of ruthless individualists. Let it band together into groups and organizations as much as it likes – it is just this banding together and the resultant extinction of the individual personality that makes it succumb so readily to a dictator. A million zeroes joined together do not, unfortunately, add up to one." –Carl Gustav Jung, "The Undiscovered Self"

Love this place, great decor and great atmosphere. Good place to go if you want to have a nice conversation with friends, and a great place to go if you'd like to fire up the ol' laptop and get some work done!

These guys have everything, and they're a Sandpoint institution! If you need something, the Co-op almost certainly has it. When you shop with them, you are shopping LOCALLY, supporting this economy and not the one where that big-box store has its headquarters. If you're in the need for anything from housewares to feed to tools to gardening supplies to tack to candy, go see them: you'll love it! While anyone can shop at the Co-op, don't forget to become a Co-op member: you can earn dividends!

Hipster infestation! This used to be a really nice place; it was eclectic, kind of hippie, great coffee, locally-owned with a great local feel. Now when I go in there it's like a bunch of inner-city transplants have taken over and are trying to recreate "the essence of Sandpoint" from the perspective of hipster poseurs. If you ask the crowd in there, I'm sure they'd all tell you how it's the "coolest place in town"...all the more reason to head somewhere the clientele is humble, down-to-earth, and welcoming.
