My daughter Amelia painted this today. I love that she labeled it flower pot.

I am a web developer. I work on web sites for a living. So naturally, I geeked out when we put up our family blog as we adopt. I am relatively "not" social compared to my wife. I put some links up on Facebook to share our story with my small list of friends.

I'm geeking out on the Google Analytics data. This site is brand new (like a week old) so there is only traffic when we specifically send traffic there. And the lesson learned so far is that 2x the number of people have visited from m.facebook.com than from the desktop.

I am using WordPress's new TwentyForteen theme which is responsive so the experience is okay, but wow that is a stat that means something. As someone who ran a successful WordPress theme, I'm plan to be release a TwentyForteen child theme sometime soon that will provide optimizations and some goodies.

So back to the adoption site, our donations link with RevTrak--which is the vendor MICAH Fund uses--does not have a mobile optimized experience. It is not broken but it is sub-optimal.

This got me to thinking that it may be time for me to start thinking about my doing some Kingdom entrepreneurship or at least advocacy in this space.

I am starting a visual "meditation" as we get closer and closer to the adoption. This is the first covering James1:27.

I liked the NIRV phrasing which urges me to take care of children. This is a simple command, but it somehow feels more achievable than when it is translated "orphans". It feels human scale.

And when I think about our adoption, I have to keep it small scale. There are so many needs, contemplating the needs of kids in its entirety is stifling. Especially when I consider that right now I have no real plan to care for widows, except in the more general "I pay my taxes" sense of caring.

So instead, I try to think small, act small, if you can consider adding to our family by adoption a small act. But somehow, God's grace makes that act small, human, achievable. And I suppose this sense of scale is not an accident, but part of the preparation of the Holy Spirit. For it is only by grace, whereby adoption could seem like a small act and thereby something I could do.

Without grace, I would read James 1:27 very differently. How do you read this, deal with the idea that this is "religion"?
