Gas VS Electric at Thunderhill. Who are you betting on? http://qoo.ly/8hzxu
It's electric versus gasoline as these two potent and lux sedans compete on road and track.

I'm surprised that they didn't try the P90D instead, even if it's not clear that it would have won either, Teslas just aren't meant to be track cars (owner of a 90D and a separate track car).

Thank you! Good, fun facts to know!
I laugh at the dB pricing difference fit Laguna Seca; it is sad they have to do that to appease the residents who moved in after the track was built... there's a trace track just down the street -did they expect peace and quiet?!

Car Racing Track

Thunderhill Raceway Park is a road racing course located 7 miles (11 km) West of Willows, California on Hwy 162. The course is a fast series of twists and turns with minor elevation changes. Thunderhill is owned and operated by the San Francisco Region of the SCCA. It is host to many motorports events for cars and motorcycles. The SCCA uses Thunderhill for its automotive race competitions. The Northern California Chapter of the AFM runs several motorcycle races there every year.

The standard road course at Thunderhill Park is a 3.0-mile (4.83-km), 15 turn course, however the track is configurable and event organizers can configure the course as they see fit.

Thunderhill is the site of the longest automobile race in the United States; the 25 Hours of Thunderhill. The race is held annually during the first weekend in December and is sanctioned by NASA (National Auto Sport Association).

I recently did a track day at Thunderhill on the full 5 mile course, and the new section is an awesome addition. The esses and tight corners introduce some welcome variation to the existing elevation changes and off camber turns. It makes it pretty satisfying and challenging to run a nice, clean lap. For beginners, I feel like the extended length can be a little intimidating. It takes time and experience to digest all the little nuances of a track this long, so I really recommend going with organizations that provide coaching if it's your first track day. Hooked on Driving and BMWCCA have great coaches, and both are very organized so you get a good amount of track time. They're pricier than other organizations, but the coaching is really valuable. I definitely would've learned the track much more slowly without their help.

I rode my motorcycle on this track at a Pacific Track Time track day it was Amazing Amazing Amazing!!! The PTT instructors were very helpful in taking me (a street rider for years) and showing me how to ride at the racetrack, giving me instructions then following me around the track and giving me further training. By the end of the day I could barely walk from riding so hard, and my cheeks hurt from smiling so much in my helmet. It was the best day of riding I've ever ever had!!!

A fun, twisty-turny track with wide open spaces around in case you leave the track "involuntarily". The main building has a nice, cool room to chill out in, and there's some covered, shady spaces for your car - which you'll want in the summer: temps in the high 90s°F) are normal. Three's an OK on-site grill, and insanely-expensive gas - but much cheaper stuff is available in Willows.

One of my favorite California tracks to drive. Great track for beginners, as it is very forgiving if you have an off course excursion, compared to other local road courses.
