WELCOME TO GRASMERE THORNEY HOW

Situated under Helm Crag in Grasmere, the Lake District, Thorney How is an independent, family run hostel, offering simple B&B, Bunkhouse accommodation for groups, famililes and individuals with a  fully licensed  walker’s cafe / bar. Formerly owned by the Youth Hostel Association (YHA)

Ideal for all sorts of group activities and celebrations, with the accommodation able to be split into 16, 24 or all 50 beds.

We’re one of a very few alternative accommodation providers and destinations in Cumbria that can also hold a wedding ceremony on site. So if you’re looking for something a little different in the heart of the Lake District and maybe on a smaller budget we’re here to help.

With the backdrop of magnificent fells, adjacent to the Coast to Coast path, local Grasmere village amenities and lake, the tranquil location provides the perfect place from which to explore everything Lakeland has to offer.
