IRS Announces End of OVDP
The IRS announced that the Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program (OVDP) will end as of September 28, 2018. The OVDP is a program that allows taxpayers to voluntarily disclose offshore assets to the IRS in exchange for reduced penalties and a signed agreement from the IRS saying that it will not prosecute those taxpayers. Taxpayers who still wish to participate in the program may do so until the September 28, 2018 deadline. The Streamlined Filing Procedure is another voluntary disclosure program that the IRS has announced will remain in effect. If you have questions or concerns about your FATCA requirements and how this may affect you, please call Kevin E. Thorn, Managing Partner of Thorn Law Group at ket@thorntaxlaw.com or 202- 349 4033
