Contract through 2020. IANAL, but they may have leverage to get out early. Or not.

Cool article from my colleague +Sharon Florentine on how some recruiting software firms are helping organizations hire a more diverse workforce.
The IT industry's not all discrimination, harassment and misogyny. Savvy, progressive recruiting software startups are focusing on diversity and inclusion from the beginning, and using technology to help firms hire the best and brightest from underrepresented talent pools.

The InfoSec threat horizon is constantly shifting. The Information Security Forum (ISF) predicts these will be the 9 biggest threats over the next two years.
Each year, the Information Security Forum, a nonprofit association that researches and analyzes security and risk management issues, releases its 'Threat Horizon' report to provide a forward-looking view of the biggest security threats over a two-year period. A great piece from my colleague +Tom Kaneshige
In an industry where buzzwords fly, terms like ‘team player,’ ‘salesmanship,’ ‘innovative’ and ‘thought leadership’ are hardly benign. In fact, they are sometimes code words that mask bias and sexual discrimination.

The NHL has statistics going back nearly 100 years, and it's going to unlock those stats, along with modern enhanced stats from its real-time scoring system, for fans, broadcasters and media to dig into with advanced visualizations.

* My Bruins-fan editor chose this image over my protests!
The NHL wants to bring in hardcore fans and casual fans alike with a multi-phase plan to offer 'enhanced statistics' along with advanced visualizations on 100 years of historical data and its real-time scoring data.

The Internet of Things has the potential to change the world even more than the Internet did.
A new report by Verizon predicts that the Internet of Things is poised to transform virtually every major market sector, growing to more than 5.4 billion connections by 2020.

The potential is certainly there for much more expansive growth. But in the end we're just talking about connections. The really exciting stuff is what is done with those connections.

I heard the CTO of a commercial real estate management company here in NYC speak at an Intel conference not so long ago. They've instrumented all their building and can now do things like have the HVAC system automatically adjust for the number of bodies in a building (a human body gives off the equivalent of about a 100W light bulb in heat).

This allows them to maintain the building temperature at a steady state. Not only has that dramatically reduced the number of hot/cold complaints, it has helped the company make its energy use much, much more efficient. Their peak energy usage (middle of the day) is now less than their resting energy usage (middle of the night) used to be. They're saving millions of dollars a year as a result.

Are you in NYC on Saturday? Come see the Manhattan Mayhem take on the Brooklyn Bombshells in the Gotham Girls Roller Derby season opener!

Last year, Manhattan took the victory in a nail-biting 170-169 bout that came down to the very last second of play! Brooklyn wants payback and defending 2014 champion Manhattan is looking to extend its undefeated streak.

The bout will be held at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice Gymnasium

524 West 59th Street
New York, NY 10019
United States

Buy tickets online here: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/web/1265414

Doors open at 6:00 pm. The game begins at 7:00 pm sharp.

Note: Fans should enter through the 59th Street entrance. Once inside, they will be directed to the elevators to take them up to the gymnasium.

By train: A, B, C, D and 1 trains to 59th St/Columbus Circle. Walk west on 59th Street two avenues.

Metal detectors will be used, so leave the huge sets of keys and massive belt buckles at home, and arrive early, as lines get long!

Alcohol will be sold at the venue. No outside food or beverages allowed.

ID will be required to pick up will-call tickets.

Children aged 5 and under (sitting on laps) get free admission. Older children must have a purchased ticket.
