Do zebra's stripes help them deter flies?

We all know that a zebra's stripes make it one of the most fashionable creatures in the animal kingdom. But do their stripes actually serve a real function? #FunFacts  #AnimalFacts

The Maasai jumping dance is fun and interesting to watch, but there's a big significance behind these ceremonies.

The Maasai jumping ceremony is a tourist favorite, and it’s been captured in endless pictures, videos, and documentaries. It is a ritual of Maasai life.

"This safari was a 60th birthday gift from my son (who came with me). My #1 dream trip since I was 10, so that's 50 years....So worth the wait.... I had no idea what to expect really; it was just so much better than I could have imagined."

Every morning, we cram ourselves into subway trains or sit in traffic. Commuting may be a part of life for many of us, but our daily journeys are nowhere near as epic or graceful as most animal migrations. Animals migrate for a variety of reasons ...

Tanzania! Our home, your adventure... for over 30 years.
Introduction
Why travel to Tanzania with Thomson Safaris? After 33 years in Tanzania, we have the answers. For a start, there's the Serengeti. It is the premier wildlife viewing destination in the world. Who among us hasn't seen awe-inspiring images of its golden plains, herds of wildebeest, giraffes, zebras and crocodiles and thought: I want to be there!

But the Serengeti is only one of Tanzania's wonders. There's Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak. There's Ngorongoro Crater, formed millions of years ago and home to nearly 30,000 animals within 102 square miles. There's Zanzibar, with its white sand beaches and rich history. There's Gombe Stream, where Jane Goodall did her ground-breaking chimpanzee research, and Olduvai Gorge, where the Leakey's made some of the most important discoveries in evolutionary science.

We enthusiastically endorse Tanzania as a travel destination. It’s a place we have come to know and love for its gracious people, bountiful wildlife, and breathtaking landscapes.

When you explore with us, you’ll see the real Tanzania—a side few travelers get to witness. You will meet Tanzanians who are our friends. You’ll journey across pristine land. You’ll witness amazing wildlife. You’ll be left with memories that will last a lifetime, and you just may come to love Tanzania as much as we do.
