We know you’ve been anxiously awaiting more details on registration for Google I/O 2013, which will be May 15-17, 2013. We appreciate your patience, and the wait is over!
Registration will open on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 7:00 AM PDT (GMT-7) and will remain open until tickets are sold out. Based on demand in previous years, we expect to sell out quickly. Just like last year, ticket prices will be USD $900 for general attendees and $300 for academic attendees, and you’ll need a Google+ account and a Google Wallet buyer account to register.
We’ll be sharing more information about registration and travel planning here and on developers.google.com/io before registration opens on the 13th.
We’re looking forward to bringing you an amazing and inspiring Google I/O experience!
You can also use the different app variants for supporting different screen sizes or even different api levels.
I found this youtube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JDEK4wkN5I a great help when I needed separate apk files for the same app.
It is an example of how to spilt an app into paid and free apks

With the pleasure of our sponsores we provide you some test devices and other hardware to play, like iBeacons.
The event will start after the lunch with short kickoff talks about the future and the opportunities of the Android Wear system. After this you can pitch your ideas or join a team. Now you have four hours to develop and present your idea.

I've contacted the Google I/O team cause I found a bug on the registration site (https://developers.google.com/events/io/register). Here is the conversation content:
I have a question regarding the "Get Ready" part on https://developers.google.com/events/io/register:
I'm signed in to Google+, there is a check mark and the text "You are currently signed in to Google+" which indicates that. I'm also signed in to Wallet, but there is still the same text and icon as before I signed in: "For Google Wallet, you'll need to sign in …" . I guessed that there is a check mark and another text, too. Is it the right behavior of the website?
"Thank you for contacting the Events Team.
I can see the issue you are having and will share it with the technical team. As long as you are logged in to both your Google+ account and to your Wallet account which are tied together you are fine.
The Yellow caution sign should not be showing up when you are logged in to both, which we will resolve, but it won't prevent you from registering if you are logged in.
Good luck on Tuesday.
