Screw you Java 8 doclint, I will format my JavaDoc as I please!
Whoever thought it was a good idea to make HTML validation warnings into hard errors in the JavaDoc tool needs a solid spanking. While the intention of generating better quality HTML is noble, getting in the way of busy developers is unforgivable and surely counter-productive. Oh - hello "-Xdoclint:none". (There does not appear to be any setting for downgrading the severity.)

"Spring Batch - A lightweight, comprehensive batch framework designed to enable the development of robust batch applications vital for the daily operations of enterprise systems."

Apart from that it is actually neither being lightweight nor comprehensive. Creating a simple batch job requires setting up a a lot of pointless infrastructure, and the out-of-the-box functionality has plenty of rough edges and blind spots.

http://chrononsystems.com/blog/java-7-design-flaw-leads-to-huge-backward-step-for-the-jvm. Hoepfully Oracle will reverse this - but probably not... :(

wonders why Samsung does not describe their different monitor series on their website... You can choose a "type", after which you are dropped at a page with all the products "fitting the type" , and only with limited possible filters (e.g. "size" is not one of them). </rant>

It might be because, I'm turning thirty shortly, and is thereby officially "old", but I genuinely think this is a good point...

That an MPAA official has actual compared the VCR to the Boston Strangler should invalidate their arguments for stricter IP enforcement. What a bunch of Luddites..

Citibank customer, arrested while trying to close her bank account. Thanks +Christopher Loflin

Reshare if you believe you ought to have the right to decide where your money is kept. The police are fully capable of escorting protesters inside the bank several at a time to close accounts. The banks just don't want it to happen.

In this video, 20 protesters are being held inside the bank until they can be arrested. They are not being violent. They just wanted to get their money. Near the end of the video, the police sweep another protester who is outside into the bank, so they can arrest her as well.

As someone in the youtube comments points out: None of this is legal. They don't even have a reason for arresting her! she should file a lawsuit for false arrest.
