Remember the days where kernel-panic backtraces didn't fit onto your screen? I do! And I also know that 70% of the screen are usually blank. That's a thing of the past now!

Just sent DRM-Log to dri-devel. It's a small helper to render the kernel log onto any framebuffer. It's meant for debugging, oops/panic screens, and obviously for CONFIG_VT=n.

It is not optimized for speed, nor does it win a beauty contest. But it serves its use-case quite well: printing kernel-logs to debug early-boot/late-shutdown/oops/panics. And it comes with some handy extensions: multiple columns (1 to n) and integer-scaling (1 to n) (only in v2), so you can get readable backtraces on high-dpi displays, but also a long-backlog on wide displays.

High-level integration into DRM-core and drivers still on-going, but the bulk of the work is done now! Attached is a screenshot during early-boot on my machine with 2 columns on 1080p.

>Just imagine being invited to a televised game development jam, reportedly sponsored by Pepsi to the tune of $400k, where you'd be among a dozen contestants organized into teams to compete for prizes. Imagine accommodating oneself to what GAME_JAM turned out to be, with demanding legal waivers and a pressurized Kitchen Nightmares-style format. Then imagine that the guy in charge--a consultant named Matti Leshem--asks you “Do you think you’re at an advantage because you have a pretty girl on your team?”

>"He got a rise out of me," reports participant Adriel Wallick. "He got me to, with an embarrassed and flushed red face launch into a statement about how his question is indicative of everything that is wrong in our industry in terms of sexism. That no, we weren’t at an advantage because we had a woman on our team – we were at an advantage because I’m a damn fine programmer and game developer. We were at an advantage because my skills allowed us to be at an advantage – not my 'pretty face'."

This story made my jaw hit my desk, and then the floor. Be sure to read the linked stories from Boingboing, so you can see just how much this fuckwit messed up. I really hope someone got fired over this.

Gehen seit Jahren immer wieder gerne hin. Sushi und auch andere Speisen sehr gut! Telefonisch bestellen und mitnehmen funktioniert auch super. Akzeptieren seit einiger Zeit auch Kartenzahlung. Been going there regularily for years. Sushi and other disches very good. Ordering on phone and then picking it up also works well. Also accept card payments for a while now.

Went there for a nice cool glass of Guinness once. Really nice decoration and good service. The price was ok. Unfortunately I did not have time to try the (vegetarian) food, but it smelled and looked very nice. War einmal auf ein kühles Glas Guinness dort. Nette Dekoration und Service. Auch der Preis war ok. Leider hatte ich keine Zeit das (vegetarische) Essen zu kosten, aber es hat sehr gut gerochen und ausgeschaut.

Been there some years back and it was quite interesting to see. We did not take a tour back then, but from what I heard of tours walking past it seems to be worth it (maybe another time).
