10pm in the evening. Was about to book a hotel on a website, went through their booking system until the payment screen. "What?! 3,95 EUR for Visa Credit Card payment - nah! But wait, Visa Debit Card is 0 EUR... lets try to select that."
As expected, transaction fails, I feel dumb. Continue to look for the next hotel.
5 minutes later suddenly my phone rings - unknown number - from BANGKOK! "Must be a scammer..." and click it away. Then, shortly afterwards phone is ringing again, this time from BHUTAN. "Wtf..." and I click it away again.
Seconds later same Bhutan number is calling again and I answer the phone by asking politely in English who's on the other end of the line. Get an answer in almost perfect German, from a call center agent apparently. He saw my failed booking and all the other details, said he expects the booking to go through and that he'll send me the hotel voucher by email... Thanking him politely and hang on the phone baffled.
Indeed, the voucher reached me seconds after the call - stating the original price w/o CC treatment. Now it will be interesting if and how much they actually bill me... and really, has India become too expensive or why are call centers established nowadays in Bhutan?!
