The year 2013 was an exciting year for us at ThinkUber. We worked with many clients, new and existing, building and growing online properties and executing everything from campaign driven design concepts to complex back-end Drupal specific custom development and integration, building workflows and integrating more 3rd party products than we’d ever imagined.

We’ve had the pleasure of working with so many great companies from different industries in South Africa, and indeed the world, and have worked with some exceptional people along the way. Sharing enthusiasm and passion with strangers is the best way to build long lasting business and personal relationships, and we’re very lucky to have made a few new friends in 2013.

In 2013 ThinkUber made a concerted effort to deliver the highest quality development work possible for our clients. This allowed is to gain noteworthy new accounts and also do work in other countries. We have made it a priority to stay ahead of the curve, and stay up-to-date with the latest development methodology, be it with regards to Drupal, CSS, HTML or PHP. Another primary focus for ThinkUber is development for the mobile arena, including Android and iOs. Additionally we look forward to providing more server side services, including configuration and security administration.

This year development, with a strong focus on mobile, will again be the primary focus for our industry, and ThinkUber has positioned itself so as to cater to high end Drupal development, customisation and integration, and to deliver mobile solutions of highest quality and accessability.

We look forward to creating more innovative and inspiring solutions for you in 2014, and wish you peace, love and prosperity for the year ahead.

In a blog post about Twitter's birthday, the company also boasted that its network sees 340 million tweets a day.

“That’s more than 1 billion every three days,” the post reads. “However concisely, it turns out there’s plenty to say.”

Are you on Twitter? Do you think it's here to stay?

Zynga acquired Draw Something creator OMGPOP Wednesday.

The company has not disclosed the cost of the sale, but +AllThingsD reports the acquisition cost Zynga $180 million, plus another $30 million in employee retention payouts.

Wow. Did they pay too much, too little, or just enough?

“We’ll take action to protect the privacy and security of our users, whether by engaging policymakers or, where appropriate, by initiating legal action, including by shutting down applications that abuse their privileges.”

- Erin Egan, Facebook's Chief Privacy Officer

A nice infographic covering Drupal's security.
Jeffrey McGuire, Acquia's Manager of Community Affairs, just made a great post detailing Drupal's security release process, and it has a fantastic accompanying infographic you can hang over your desk :)

It's certainly worth a read even if you aren't a full time Drupal developer. It'll give you insight into how such a large open source project like Drupal can maintain security awareness even with thousands of developers from around the world contributing code. It's not an easy task but there are a lot of great minds keeping vigilant watch and community sourcing everything back to the user base really takes a big bite out of potential issues before they become exploits.

There are a lot of great resources at the end that you should already have bookmarked and it's a good idea to have a refresher even if you do.
