When we were at Grandma's as kids during the winter, she would always insist that we had our heads covered and scarf wrapped around our face to just below our eyes. She firmly believed it would help us to not catch a cold. It seems Grandma knew what she was talking about!

When you disagree with someone to you tend to stop seeing that person as a human with feelings, someone with a family, someone with love and passion? Does your perception of that person being "wrong" turn that individual into Satan incarnate?

We all tend to do this at times. This article is a great reminder of what we do to others as well as ourselves when we allow the mob mentality to take over.

Some people are suddenly showing allergic reactions after eating red meat. The possible cause? A bite from the lone star tick. The tick is found in the southern states and southeastern coastal states.

There are so many people who want to believe that there is such a thing as healthy obesity. But there are just too many other studies that contridict this. Obese people who appear to be healthy tend to start having health complications within 10 - 15 years.
The idea that you can be healthy and obese may not be so true over the long-term.

With all the fears of lingering effects of concussion, have we become overly protective and cautious?

Just a few years ago someone suffering a mild to moderate concussion was told to rest a couple of days and then resume most normal activities. Now many patients, especially kids are put on strict rest, often up to 10 days. This small study suggests that may impede recovery.

This is my opinion only, nothing scientific: Our bodies are made to move and our brains crave engagement. Is it not logical that the faster the body can move and the brain engage with others as well as our surroundings it would promote and speed healing?

Work days are usually measured in hours.

But what if we are doing it all wrong? Should our work time be measured by minutes per hour we work? Should our days be longer or shorter? An interesting observation of people who are productive provides some different insights.
New research reveals exactly how much downtime you should be taking.

How does arterial damage in the legs affect you? Your legs swell and ache. They feel heavy making you take shorter strides and even shuffle your feet. Your legs can become increasingly soft and slushy feeling which will eventual turn hard and unyielding. You feel tired, sluggish and sometimes foggy in thought. A simple 5 minutes of walking per hour may keep this from happening to you!
Prolonged periods of sitting can reduce the function of arteries in the legs. A new study finds that this reduced function can be avoided by taking short walking breaks.
