We are honoured to have been presented this photograph from the US Army 69th Infantry Division Next Generation Group to mark the 70th Anniversary of Elbe Day.

Elbe Day is so-called as refers to the Elbe River in Germany where the U.S Army’s 69th Infantry Division met the Great Russion Army on the 25th April 2015. Whilst Elbe Day is not a national holiday, it is a significant date as it marks an important step toward the end of World War II in Europe.

The American Bar is full of amazing memorabilia which adorn the walls and ceilings. You can spend hours in the bar and still not see everything on display. We want to share their stories with you.

The Dwight D Eisenhower locomotive, sister to the record-breaking Mallard, was built in the UK in 1937 and sent to the US in 1964. At a time when many steam engines were headed to the scrap yard to make room for conventional engines, it was the name that saved the locomotive and it was gifted to the American people whist many of its counterparts we left to rust or dismantled for parts. This print found its way to the American bar thanks to Thomas Jeffris of the Jeffris Family Foundation.

Another piece of history has recently been added to the walls of the American Bar.

This French Air Force plaque was delivered to the hotel last month from a regular guest. It is squadron badge of the Free French Air Force formed at the beginning of WWII. The plaque is likely to be the only one in existence and it was possibly hand-crafted by a squadron member.

This is once of the best Hotels. It was such a luxurious experience for my vacation in London. Terrific service. Good location. The locale is perfect and the quiet is surprising for a central metropolitan location.

Terrific service. I love the Location. Our feeling is that the service is not only consistent but staff seem to realise what is needed from a Hotel. Nowadays you often just feel like a number. The locale is perfect and the quiet is surprising for a central metropolitan location. We loved the carriage house and would recommend this option as you can come and go as you please without having to go through the reception. I have only started writing reviews and hope I can improve.

We have worked with Juliet and Kate for years and have always been impressed with their consistently high level of service and commitment. They offer a friendly and personalised service making you feel like a valued customer rather than ‘just another customer’. Thank you for all you have done.
