Great hotel! Very clean, good breakfast. Only inconvenience is the distance from beach... we like ocean view rooms. But still great hotel!

Not the best Hilton property I have stayed in by far HOWEVER considering its in a beachy, vacationy, resorty, non-business area, it worked quite well for me. No full-time housekeeping staff; they go home at noon, so get out well before then if you want your bed made. They have fresh towels available regardless. "Transient" type individuals hang out in the parking lot possibly because it is adjacent to a Denny's. No fitness center on site, but they'll give you a pass to to a gym about five blocks away. (But you're on vacation, go rent a bike!) One real bummer was the overpowering smell of soap and curry, but not inside the room.

Staff had a very positive attitude. We really enjoyed the hot breakfast and especially the waffles. The small indoor pool was great for the kids. They had a blast! The rooms had everything we needed in them. We recommend this place for the price.

My family took a trip to Monterey, CA and stayed at the Embassy Suites. We stayed there two nights. My wife and I then traveled to Santa Cruz where we tried to book a room at the Hilton. There were no rooms available so we booked a room at the Hampton Inn in Santa Cruz, CA. We really enjoyed our stay there. The room was quiet and extremely clean. The staff was great! The breakfast was EXCELLENT! The breakfast actually surpassed those we had at the Embassy Suites. If you're headed to Santa Cruz, I recommend the Hampton Inn!

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! I stayed there and my car was broken into (it was parked right next to the door) and the hotel staff did nothing aside from offering to help call the police. Not only that, but they don't have any cameras pointed at the parking lot, so they could not even help me find out who did it. The hotel manager has told me that it is not their problem because they have signs in the parking lot that say they are not responsible. Literally. They have not offered to help pay for my stolen stuff or broken car. If you stay here, get ready to have your car broken into. Lots of transient folks around the hotel (homeless shelter is up the street), and the hotel clearly does not care if those folks break into your car and steal your stuff. AWFUL!!

NOT A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE! We heard such great reviews and since we travel to Santa Cruz every few months we love to find great and affordable places to stay. We can list a few places in Santa Cruz that are great...THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM! We did an early check in as we had to be somewhere at check-in time. When we returned around 8:30PM we were ready to relax and have a quiet evening. To our dismay, our room was right next to some sort of generator/refrigerator/loud machine that rumbled and rattled our bed EVERY five minutes. We called into the front desk and they apologized profusely and said it did not usually happen-that is was the elevator. We asked to be changed to a new room-but the hotel was booked (Memorial Day weekend) but they promised us that it should not happen all night! It kept happening so we called AGAIN, and the next person said it was not the elevator but something else...but no one could say what! By midnight...we were tired and irritated...so we called the front desk to discuss a refund or voucher and they assured us that we would have the room FULLY comped. At check out, the front desk assured us again that they would call cheptickets and refund us in full. Five days later...no refund so I spent 1 hour on the phone with cheaptickets who said Hampton Inn would offer me a $25 voucher as compensation. HA! I was insulted and told them that they should keep their word and follow through with their promise to refund us. In the end, I received a little less half of the hotel cost back and will continue to contact Hampton Inn for the remaining amount! If you go…I hope you have a better experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone!!!
