My current column in Signs of The Times magazine is all about the requirement to keep learning. Today while I work, I'm listening to interviews with other artists who inspire me. It's such a challenge to find time for all things that I want to do, but regardless of how busy I am I squeeze in time for learning and inspiration.
I've been teaching myself Adobe Edge animate and reflow over the past couple of weeks. They have quickly become a powerful tool in my arsenal, bridging the gap between me the Graphics guy and the full stack programmer I'm working with. I learn so much with online resources but what is missing is an online tutor. I don't always need a lesson, some times just a answer to a question like: where Is "____" or what is "___" called in this software. I'll often have to skip through up to 5 min of blah blah blah on both you tube and other* just to get an answer that was 30 sec of video top. I love that my company bought a subscription to Lynda, I find it incredibly useful to play lessons at 2x the speed. It still would be cool to have little 10-15 secs clips that are like "find this: here".
