Google Code-in contest for teens starts today!

Today is the start of Google Code-in 2014, a contest introducing teens to open source software development. Interested students can now register at the contest site, google-melange.com, and start claiming and working on tasks designed by 12 open source projects. Students can earn certificates, t-shirts, hoodies and a grand prize trip to Google’s headquarters next summer.

Google Code-in is a great chance for students to use the skills they have been learning in the classroom and apply them to real open source projects. Students have the opportunity to become a part of the open source communities and see first hand how software projects work while also learning new skills.
