As someone who sells CRM and automation software, I find myself in this conversation a lot.

A sales person will say "I'm being productive" because they're making calls and sending emails - focusing on activity. The sales manager will say "you need to be more productive" because the activity in which they're engaging isn't leading to sales.

We need to redefine - and clearly define - what productivity actually means in sales departments.
