Audio interview with Don Alder

It is thanks to Shai Sebbag (that I thank) that I met with Don Alder who was visiting in Paris for a concert. I did not know at all that musician who has stunning acoustic guitar technique.

I enjoyed a lot his album "Not A Planet", you will be able to judge by yourself with the four extracts before Don's interview.

Enjoy,

Pierre.

Summary of my first NAMM show

Here's a blog post with a summary of what was my first NAMM show for this 2015 edition.
Until I publish my the videos shot on site here is the summary of my first NAMM show. I went several times the Musikmesse, so going to the NAMM was a logical step in the development of The Guitar Channel. I have not been disappointed with this trip to Anaheim: plenty of cool meetings, 20 interviews (see below), photos by

Audio interview with Philip Sayce: a guitar player under Influence

Philip Sayce is a guitar player who already had a very rich career in the music business. He’s is really making his thing with a lot of passion and a huge talent.

For the release of Influence, his latest album, I had the pleasure to do a Skype interview. It’s the third time I talk to him and each time I have a blast interacting with such a gifted and nice musician.

Review of the Strymon Flint reverb/tremolo pedal

Don’t be fooled by the analog appearance of the Strymon Flint (as there’re only buttons and switches, no display) it actually hides a powerfull digital processor that produces some very cool sounds.
It has 3 types of effects for tremolo and reverb as well as the usual adjustment knobs.

Note that the pedal is full of dual functions for example to change the order tremolo into reverb or the opposite, you can also choose if there is a boost when you activate the effect, etc. See manual for details.
The pedal is stereo output as well as input with the proper adapter.

Audio interview with Doug Scarratt from Saxon

Back in 2012 I had the opportunity to meet Doug Scarratt while he was in Paris to promote a Saxon best-of album. This interview is one of the many gems I have in the vault, time to release it I think!

Review of the Dragon's Heart Guitar Picks: a cool triple edge pick

More than ever there is a humongous choice of picks available nowadays.

I recently received a set of Dragon's Heart Guitar Picks. I admit I was intrigued by the original shape of the model which present three different edges: a sharp one, a normal one and a round one.

Here's my review of this cool pick.

Interview with the legendary Grover Jackson

While I was in Los Angeles for the 2015 NAMM show, I met completely by chance Grover Jackson one morning in the alleys of the show even though he did not have a booth with GJ2 Guitars.

He proposed me right away to come and visit their workshop in Orange County, no need to say I jumped on the opportunity. The video interview from which you can see n extract below was done at his desk.

The Guitar Channel selection for best guitar albums for 2014

Rock - Uniparental Advisory from What ABout Your Mom
Metal - Enigma Opera Black from Stéphan Forté
Jazz - One by Jonathan Kreisberg
World - En Equilibre by Shai Sebbag

This is my personal selection of the best guitar albums for 2014. Four very different musical worlds but with the same intensity in the six string domain.

When I write "guitar albums" I certainly do not mean "music for guitar players" which can be pretty boring very quickly! These are four musical pieces that will appeal to any music fans, and that's the most important thing.

What do you think? What's your selection?

I had the pleasure to do an audio interview with Jon Herington in 2011 for the release of his awesome solo album Shine, (Shine, Shine).
