We’re very happy to mark Urgyen Sangharakshita’s 90th birthday by launching a virtual version of the ‘Nine Decades’ exhibition currently running at Adhisthana.

Listen to all nine interviews with Saddhanandi - each exploring a decade of Sangharakshita’s life through the prism of a set of objects chosen to represent the time. In these very personal conversations, Bhante reflects on his long experience of trying to translate the Buddha’s Dharma for the modern world having first come across it in London in the 1940s.

You can also view a gallery of all the objects chosen for the series, as well as many of the pictures from Sangharakshita’s personal collection that help bring his 90 years to life in the exhibition.

For the next five weeks during our Tuesday meditations online we'll be exploring the Triratna System of Practice, with each session touching on one specific stage of the system through sitting practice.  In this first week we'll look at the stage of Integration, using the Mindfulness of Breathing practice.

This week is the final meditation in a series based on the Buddha's teaching in the Anuruddha Sutta. We'll be exploring the joy and freedom of non-objectification in the practice of Just Sitting - allowing our experience to flow without being bound by mental constructs and without attempting to fix it in place with preconceptions.

NB. Tuesday meditations are primarily for those who know the two main practices we focus on. Fridays are drop-in meditations (beginners welcome!).

”This Dhamma is for one who enjoys non-objectification, who delights in non-objectification, not for one who enjoys & delights in objectification.' Thus was it said. With reference to what was it said? There is the case where a person's mind leaps up, grows confident, steadfast, & is firm in the cessation of objectification. 'This Dhamma is for one who enjoys non-objectification, who delights in non-objectification, not for one who enjoys & delights in objectification.' Thus was it said. And with reference to this was it said."

A lovely video from the Sangharakshita Library at Adhisthana in Herefordshire, England, where Kalyanaprabha and Vidyadevi - the editors of Sangharakshita’s Complete Works - speak about the project and their own heart connection to this great gathering of Buddhist Dharma to mark Urgyen Sangharakshita’s 90th birthday.

Urgyen Sangharakshita turns 90 in August 2015 - and his birthday wish is that his legacy of written Dharma be secure and continue to reach people all over the world. To celebrate the campaign to raise the funds required for his Complete Works we'll be bringing you a brand new series of 9 interviews with Sangharakshita - one for each decade of his life.

In these very personal conversations with Saddhanandi, Bhante chooses objects from each period of his life and reflects on his long experience of trying to bring the Buddha's Dharma to the world having first come across it in London in the 1940s. Not to be missed!

We'll be releasing the interviews on August 26th - the date of Sangharakshita's 90th birthday! For now, here's a special trailer recorded after the series was over. Enjoy! And please support the campaign - we're 60% there already. Help us secure Bhante's legacy for generations to come!
