For all you dog-lovers out there in the Wasteland here's a new episode of Fallout Lore. For those of you who prefer cats... We are sorry, but the only cat that can actually be seen in Fallout series is quite dead.

Not a fan of Nuka-Cola? Then this Fallout Lore episode is for you. Everything you always wanted to know about Sunset Sarsaparilla but were afraid to ask.

Garoux updates: Is this tweet something to draw upon for Fallout 4 or is it merely promotion for something completely unrelated?
These are mysteries. MYSTERIES OF OUR AGE.

If it does relate to F4, presumably Dellums is now being ranted at or sued by Pete Hines

A speedrunner named Rydou has set a new record yesterday by beating Fallout in 18 minutes and 53 seconds. Thus he has beaten his own previous record by 4 seconds. Just think of it, Fallout 3 in less than 19 minutes! Guess he didn't pay too much attention to the story, did he? :)

Geomapping with Tagaziel: Behind the Scenes
For those of you who enjoy our little maps, I'd like to give you a peek at how it looks behind the scenes. This screenshot shows the world map of Fallout overlaid over a physical map of California derived from Natural Earth Data.
While our maps use the WGS 1984 projection, world maps in the game use the Mercator projection. Converting between the two, once you nail down the locations, is trivial. Finding the locations, though...
As you can see from this map, Shady Sands, according to the Fallout map, is clearly in the middle of Highway 95 and one cannot help but wonder if that wasn't a deliberate choice. We have arrived at this conclusion after aligning the world map from the game with the natural features of the Sierra Nevada mountains and primarily the Tehachapi mountain range at the southern end of the Central Valley.
Think that means Shady Sands lies in Nevada? Well, remember that the California Republic of the 19th century was formed out of the Mexican Alta California and encompassed not only the modern state of California, but also Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, and Utah:

Last year i had worked on the rail between Los Angeles and Los Vegas. Was wicked cool seeing whisky Pete and the solar arrays from the game.

We are not dead. We are simply busy with things like crafting a composite map of all locations in the post-nuclear United States. Here's a peek at the pretty-much-done map of locations in the western United States: New California and its neighboring areas.

Major extant roads are marked: I-15 (red), I-80 (violet), Highway 95 (black), and Highway 93 (blue).

The composite map has been created using the following assumptions:

1. Real-life locations take precedence over game locations. These tend to be modified for game balance (for instance, Bakersfield was moved to the east to spread out the locations), with little regard for their actual placement.

2. The best possible approximate location of fictional locations has been attempted, using landmarks for reference. In case of conflicting information, maps providing the best point of reference were used.

3. If no landmarks are available, NPC statements were used as basis for approximating the location (eg. Wallace's mention of Redding being in the far west, while Den is merely west).

Shouldn't necropolis be north of the glow and east of the hub?

Fallout: The Frontier is one of the most impressive Fallout: New Vegas total conversions out there - and unlike many, it appears to have a strong, coherent art direction and general focus.
The frozen wastelands of the north have never seemed so... Alluring.

Eighteen years and fans will still find references. This time to George Burns and Gracie Allen show. Credit for the find goes to thebrandedman on the /r/falloutlore Reddit, who is a fan of all things vintage. Or, at least, classic shows.

Have you ever wondered why the town map for The Den in Fallout 2 features an 1882 postcard depicting... Phoenix, Arizona?!

Thirsty? Then grab yourself some Nuka-Cola and watch this new Fallout Lore episode. Just don't get too addicted like that funny guy from Vault 10. We'd also avoid taking a yellow one, no matter what you heard of its "interesting" bouquet. :)

For those among us who have too much time on their hands: Atomic Cyborg is uploading obscure post-apocalyptic movies to YouTube, with emphasis on those less known and in the So Bad They're Awesome category.
Grab a six pack, your friend(s), and binge-watch the horrific post-apocalypse!
