5-star Review submitted on TripAdvisor.com by a guest from San Francisco: “Art Lovers Paradise:  Combine a relaxing environment, friendly hostess, beautiful room with original artwork in every room and you will come up for air at this gem of a bed & breakfast located in a nice quite neighborhood near the University. We LOVED this place and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Baton Rouge. All the rooms are tastefully decorated and the southern breakfast is a great way to start your day. Room Tip: All rooms are unique and tastefully decorated. The house only has six rooms and they are all very nice. They offer lots of reading material and a relaxing indoor and outdoor area to enjoy.”

Not every innkeeper spends their days racing in a go-cart grand prix and their nights courting ghosts - but Janice DeLerno is not your ordinary innkeeper. Read all about it in our April newsletter. http://archive.constantcontact.com/fs177/1112171845288/archive/1120826777557.html

My new husband and I stayed in the Rex Room - cute, very roomy, and very accommodating! We had the Romance package A with hors d'oeurves and wine, dinner at Mansur's, and breakfast in bed. Other than the guest above us stomping every time they walked around, we couldn't have been more pleased!

Very much enjoyed my brief stay. A beautiful common room all decorated for Christmas and a well maintained exterior. Janice, the innkeeper, was there to greet me when I arrived and showed me to my room, The Escape. The room was huge, clean, and well lit. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were good quality. My only suggestion would be to update the bathroom. The bathroom decor is a little dated and the lighting is dim with no light in the shower. I was not able to stay for breakfast as I had to leave very early, but I will definitely be staying at the Stockade again on my next trip to Baton Rouge.

Thank you for staying with us Ron. Sorry we missed you for breakfast. And thanks for letting us know about the lighting. I will put some brighter bulbs in that bathroom to make it easier to see. We appreciate your comments and look forward to seeing you on your next trip to Baton Rouge. Happy Holidays to you and your family. Best Wishes, Janice, Innkeeper

This is the second time our groups have stayed at The Stockade. Each time the personal treatment, amazing breakfast and comfortable rooms are a highlight for our tour group. We arrive pretty tired after a long bike ride and it is nice to be able to walk in and get comfortable right away. Every one of our guests this time rated this night as the best night of sleep they had and everyone also loved the rooms and breakfast. Thanks again! Beer & Bike Tours

Had a confusion that left us without a room in Vacherie; driving into Baton Rouge, I did a map search and stumbled across The Stockade. A room was available and under the rubric of 'nothing ventured, nothing gained', we committed to it sight unseen. Clearly this house is in the land of Serendip - when we walked into the Rex Room, I thought it was a public parlor, but, no, it was our bedroom! Marvelous service, excellent food, very comfortable room, good conversation with the other guests - it was a great experience for our 40th wedding anniversary, and Janice gets kudos for how she has arranged and how she runs the place. Most highly recommended!

Our initial thoughts upon entering The Stockade were, "Wow, this is better than we anticipated!" The greeter was friendly and showed us around the beautiful interior and grounds before helping us with our bags and showing us to our lovely and spacious room. We were offered a variety of fruit, drinks and snacks and enjoyed our dinner conveniently located across the street. Breakfast was good and plentiful. If we ever are close to Baton Rouge again, we will certainly stay at The Stockade.

We had an absolutely lovely stay at the Stockade in the Garden Room, while visiting Baton Rouge for a wedding. The place was clean and delightfully decorated, and extremely comfortable. Janice's morning quiche and coffee were superb, and she is a charming hostess.

Hubby & I stayed at The Stockade for an overnight anniversary getaway. We booked the garden room. We had our own private terrace to sit and watch the squirrels, birds and a huge raccoon play in the trees. Our room was spacious and clean. The home was comfortable and cozy. We sat in the living room and browsed through the many interesting books on display. That evening we walked across the street and ate at Sammy's restaurant. (The boiled crawfish were delicious.) The next morning, Janice cooked us a wonderful breakfast. We ate breakfast at one large table with many wonderful guests. Breakfast was very delightful and overall we had a wonderful experience. True southern hospitality! We will definitely stay again.

Hi Shauna, We are so glad that you enjoyed your room and balcony. The Garden Room is very popular because of the private balcony. I am also glad that you took advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the living room and all the eclectic art, books and memorabilia that I have collected over my years as an art dealer. We are so happy that Sammy’s and George’s Grills are just across the street because it is so convenient for our guests after a long day of traveling. And the breakfast table is truly a united nations of wonderful, interesting people who share their travel experiences with each other. Meeting all of our wonderful guests is the reason that I enjoy innkeeping so much. Please come back soon! Yours in Hospitality, Janice, Innkeeper The Stockade Bed and Breakfast
