Although we have winter ahead, now is an excellent time to consider planting a spring-flowering tree. A tree planted now will have its complete blooming period in your landscape, not some at the store lot and only a fraction at your home.

What’s more, all spring-flowering trees at The Rock Pile are 50% off. We have a good selection of lovely crabapples, dogwoods, magnolias, and redbuds to light up your spring landscape. It truly is a great time to complete “next year’s spring project” this fall! (Matt Misecik)

Plant Winter Rye in the fall to improve your soil for spring! Winter Rye crowds out weeds, making herbicides unnecessary. When tilled under in the spring, the plant breaks down quickly and adds organic matter to soil, improves drainage, and enhances the soil’s ability to hold nutrients.

Broadcast at a rate of two pounds per 1,000 square feet. Then rake lightly (just enough to cover the seed) and then water. Let nature do your work for you!

We have purchased 7 yards of topsoil from them two years ago and were quite happy. This year we just bought 5 yards of the brown mulch and really like it. Good bang for the buck when you consider how much you have to pay to get the equivalent in bags of mulch.

The Staff at the Rock Pile is top notch. They are knowledgeable and friendly and take the time to answer all my questions. My yard looks great and i owe it all to them.

Terrible luck, 2-years in a row, growing grass with their so called "Premium Topsoil". Spent a lot of money with less than desirable results using their products. Did everything the way it should have been done. Called, and the very agreeable customer service person on the phone could do nothing for me. I've never had this problem planting lawns in the past. Save yourself time and lots of money, find your topsoil somewhere else.

I received some of the worst customer service I have ever encountered at the Rock Pile. I visited the store earlier to purchase some plants and a shrub or two, but an employee in the garden center was so rude and unhelpful that I will NEVER return! Not only did she ignore my questions, I also overheard her being rude to another customer. I couldn't believe it. It is unfortunate because I had heard the selection was good, but I would much rather spend my money at a place where the employees know how to interact with others!

Great experience each time even without a purchase: 1) No bombardment of chemical odors upon entering since such products are stocked away from the entrance. 2) Cabin-cozy atmosphere inside the store thanks to interior design and to its seasonal cafe which accommodates children 3) Staff complements the atmosphere with its consistent manner of friendly and relaxed greeting. 4) Pleasure of shopping here is due in part to the staff's alacritous practice of offering help with transport of heavy purchases to vehicle. 5) Variety, volume, and education of mulch have been supremely satisfying. 6) Floral stock has been uniquely suited to small spaces in addition to the standard size of plants and floral inventory Stephanie Spahr

Stopped by for bird seed and was amazed by the high quality selection at very reasonable prices. I love wondering thru the store - they have a great selection of products and the employees are very nice and helpful. The girl checking me out even pointed out a similar item on sale - thanks!! This is the only place I'll buy my bird seed and I will be back for summer plants!

I love these guys. They are so friendly. Art came to my house and re-designed my landscaping. He did a nice job. Rock Pile now has food service and coffee too which is an added bonus for those traveling down Lear Road to get to I-90.
