We’re celebrating #kindness   all year long with a new kindness theme each month. This month, we want you to make a difference in your #community   by helping the elderly.

Get out there and do something kind for an older neighbor, drop by a retirement center with some flowers or balloons, or just spend a little time with your grandparents. You’re never too old  to make a new friend, or catch up with an old one. Go forth, #GetKind!

For inspiration, visit our newest #GetKind  blog:

Our fourth Annual Melee of Kindness is almost here! There's still time to join Random Acts supporters around the world as we run #AMOK March 1, 2014. What is AMOK? In simple terms, it's a day where we encourage anyone, no matter where they are in the world, to engage in their local communities to spread   #kindness .

In the past,  AMOKaneers around the world have spent a frantic and fervent 24 hours Acting Up by giving out meals to those in need, volunteering at local animal shelters or hospitals, handing out treats to strangers, donating blood, or crafting masterpieces, often while adorned with monkey hats or mustaches.

Get inspired by following #AMOK  on social media, viewing over 50 videos from past years on our YouTube channel's AMOK playlists, and get involved by sharing your own ideas to be randomly kind.

P.S.: After AMOK is over, tell us about your day! For more info, visit:

Director's (Video) Missive! Live from a secret location, our intrepid Director Cinde Monsam gives a round-up of upcoming programs in #2014, almost lets the cat out of the box on a few yet-to-be-revealed plans, and asks you to #JoinIn to help achieve our mission of conquering the world, one random act of kindness at a time. #theRandomActorg

This month, our #GetKind  theme is all about helping our elder friends, family, and neighbors. A simple gesture like a handwritten letter can let someone know that they are important and valued, with the added bonus of bringing a smile.

Grab your monkey pens, some glitter or macaroni, and get writing!

A thank-you of epic proportions and a round of roaring applause to everyone who helped spread kindness by running  #AMOK  on March 1st! Your next mission: to  #GetKind  all month long by helping your neighbors or community at large. After being wow'd by your AMOK acts, we're excited to see what your creative minds are able to conjure up to help transform your neighborhood.

Perhaps you offer shovel sidewalks, or help clear up litter? How about starting something ongoing, like a recycling program, or improving a local playground? Keep us in the loop  about your projects, ideas, or inspirations on social media, and visit our blog for more info about #GetKind, Caught in the Act, and #opportunities to join our team!

The Random Acts team is pleased to announce a new initiative! We know that sometimes, our supporters are inspired to make the world a bit more kind – but aren’t sure about the next steps. What’s the best way to help? What should I be doing to help others?

The new #GetKind program is here to help! Each month, we will have a new theme to inspire your kindness quotient. Please use the hashtag #GetKind so we can share these great ideas, all year long!

February's theme is kindness to animals. Some ideas to get started:
Go for a walk – and take a dog with you.
Offer to walk dogs or play with cats at a local animal shelter.
Get the word out about adoptable pets in your area.  Take photos and share them with local newspapers and pet advocacy groups or share them with your own friends who are looking for a new friend.  Or use social media to get the word out!
Pick up a bag of food at your supermarket and drop it at your local shelter.
Ask you local shelter if they need help planning special events, like a fundraiser, a “Spay Day” or adoption event.
Plant wildlife-friendly plants in your garden and create a friendly place for winged visitors.
Do you neighbors need help with their pets?  Offer to walk them each afternoon, brush their dog, or change a litter box and help both pet and owner.
There are so many ways to help animals!  Let us know your great ideas.  Need more inspiration?  Check out the Random Acts forums.  You can contact the Regional Representatives, find areas of the forum dedicated to your region, and view proposals and requests for help. Get out there and #GetKind ! #theRandomActorg

After three years of #enslavement, Tzighe Mesfun escaped and is rebuilding her life. Working with the Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking (#CAST), Random Acts was honored to help reunite Tzighe with her family in #Eritrea, whom she had not seen in 15 years.
