I want to start by saying that this is a beautiful hotel and is in a perfect location in Miami Beach. The way I was treated was very undesirable. I stayed there from April 28th trough May 1st. The first night I got there, I took a shower and water spilled out all the way to the room hallway. I did not notice until I walked out and almost fell down tweaking my hip and was in little pain. Since I had to leave for an event I did not report it until the next morning. The cleaning lady came the next morning and I told her, she apologized and said she would report it. I went ahead and went to your front desk to report it, no apology, your rep just said will send someone. I left it at that. I came back later that night and the problem was not fixed. The cleaning lady in the afternoon was more receptive and got on the phone and got on the phone and report it the incident and had maintenance fix the problem. She apologized on your behalf and said someone from management would contact me. Never got a call. On Thursday, I had an important event in Miami and came back to the hotel just in time to shower and get on the road. I went to your gift shop to grab something to eat since I am diabetic. There were two ladies in there doing inventory. They saw me come in, never was I acknowledge. Waited for 5 minutes feeling unappreciated and left with no acknowledgment of my presence. On Friday I wanted a late checkout and was flat-out told no. I expressed my displeasure to your front desk. Someone later on called me to reiterate that in fact I couldn't check out later. Tried to apologize for any inconvenience but offer nothing on return. Nothing! Unless you work on improving your customer experience and make it unique, I don't see why the board to NBC, Telemundo or Billboards should use you again. Oscar Meza, room 1009

Had a nice stay, rooms are nice, grounds are excellent but main level and lower level needs a full remodel. Those two very dated and nonsensical common area levels really hold back the property from being a star.

Not everything at The Palms is terrible... merely marred by general laziness, poor attention to detail and startling incompetence. The Good First impressions count, and The Palms does not disappoint. Upon first entering the hotel feels high quality. The grounds and beach are wonderful, as is the general decor of the rooms. What went wrong? The Palms quickly drops from a 5 star rating once you experience the general laziness of staff (with exception to a few receptionists). We only ate at the hotel twice but in both instances food came with lengthy delays (an hour to cook a steak and 15 minutes for some ketchup is not what you expect with these prices). The 18% compulsory service charge only serves to highlight the lack of service. The little things This may sound picky, but I believe if you are paying top dollar for an experience you should receive something exceptional. Little things like our wardrobe door not being attached properly (room 326 if you're reading this Palms), elevators being unavailable because staff are using them to move TV's at peak hours, and misspellings on internal advertisements add up to create an a lack of care and attention. So why only two stars? The general experience would have scored 3.5 on my card, but I have deducted further points due to a potentially dangerous situation with our room. We had been in our room for 4 nights before our Son came from under his bed holding a Atenolol tablet/pill. This was either left by a member of their staff, or more likely, the rooms previous tenant, highlighting a lack of commitment in cleaning rooms. Thankfully our son (who at the time was 2 years old) did not consume the pill but staff appeared shockingly unfazed by the complaint. Anything else? I am sure this will be a temporary issue (though looking at other reviews it has been occurring for some time), but the building work taking place around the hotel also mars the experience and should be considered by those looking to book a room with the palms.

The price was not too cheap, but what we got were nice rooms, wonderful tropical areas to hang out behind the hotel, a clean warm pool, and access to our private beach area. It could not have been nicer. Even some of the bigger hotels on the same street had much worse outdoor areas.

I was there in November for a business convention. I arrived exhausted from the trip, had a bottle of water from the in room bar for which I was supposed to be charged something like $6 for and now doing my expense report see I was charged for $27 of wine from the mini-bar, which I cannot expense. And, I don’t even drink wine! But no charge for my water. I’m going to assume it was a mistake.

DO NOT STAY. Currently staying at the Palms. There are numerous problems with our stay. The door to our room does not work. Every time we enter we have to wait for an employee to open it. We are not able to access the room for which we have paid a significant amount. The elevators to not work. They broke for the afternoon and then sent us to the wrong floor this evening. I will not recommend this hotel. Do not stay here. I would give the hotel zero stars if I could.
