EAT. DRINK. GATHER. Welcome to Portland's Diner, The Original Dinerant!

In the 1950s and 60s, diners and supper clubs were social hubs, gathering spaces that blended a bit nostalgia with the modern rhythms of daily life. At The Original, Portland's downtown destination for all-day elevated dining, we honor the past as we listen in on the pulse of Portland’s adventurous and evolving tastes.

Updated diner meals dished out in a modern setting that's open late, with booths & a candlelit bar.- Google
"Good high quality dinner inspired food done with a modern twist."
"If you only drink one bacon-infused milkshake this summer, let it be this one."

Not a bad spot for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. They're even open late night to satisfy your drunken cravings. Don't expect to get blown away by their food. It's ok, but nothing that'll keep you coming back. The atmosphere is fantastic and worth the trip alone. Clean inside and out. Plenty of lighting for your food photos. Prices are good and so are the drinks.

The Bartenders make awesome drinks, but spend far to much time arranging the lemons and lime and ignoring the customer. Yesterday I waited 25 minutes by the window, then left.

I've only been here once, but that one time, it was a great experience. Wait staff was friendly and helpful, the food was good. It's not too crowded that you can't hear your tablemates talk, which is nice. However, while the food was good, I wouldn't say it was amazing or anything particularly special. While I'll definitely go back for lunch, this is not a place I would go out of my way to bring someone from out of town.

A little pricey, and you will wait for your food. But the place is just a fantastic spot to have a the middle of the hustle and bustle of downtown, and a great diner setting. The food is really good here, too..worth the wait. I had steak and eggs, and the steak was perfect. Also, they serve Stumptown coffee (aka the best coffee in town, IMO). It goes great with steak and eggs

Pretty Good breakfast here. I had the Denver omelette less the green peppers with hash browns and toast for $12.00. the eggs in the omelette were cooked perfectly as well as the hash browns. The service was good, attentive, courteous and helpful. I'd go back if I was in the area but would not go to far out of my way as there are other breakfast places that offer a better variety at a more competitive price.

Absolutely LOVED it! Visiting from Brooklyn, NY means I didn't find it pricey at all given the quality of the food I received and the establishment. Staff were great. This place will be on my list of recommendations for friends that visit PDX in the future.

The Original has a bit of an upscale diner vibe, hence their tag line "A Dinerant." You get a bit of the old school diner feel, with the plushy vinyl seating and spinning dessert rack. You also get some added modern decor. Ups: + Yummy desserts... and you get a peek at them before coming in, as they spin around on their dessert rack through the window + Great for people watching along SW 6th Ave + Right by a MAX stop + Lofty feel, lots of natural light Down-ish: - The food's nothing that special. It's a great place for a quick bite or some hungover breakfast, but there was nothing on the menu that blew me away and left me wanting more. I've tried their omelettes, french toast, poutine and bloody mary's and they were all... just filling.

I had some killer ribs from here. One thing I do not suggest is the donut mini burgers. Not that great. The grilled chicken is good also. Great vibe and my glass never got empty. Decor was like a flash back. Very fun !
