This year, for the first time, we entered The Cornwall Tourism Awards in the category of "Holiday Resort and Large Self Catering".
We were thrilled to be notified that we had been selected as finalists and would receive at least the Bronze award!
Little did we know that we hadn't won the Bronze, or the Silver, but THE GOLD AWARD!!
This is the ultimate accolade for us to receive and a truly wonderful reward for our years of hard work.
We are thrilled with the judge's comments; "Extremely impressive, family friendly accommodation with a very environmentally friendly feel. The staff do everything to make a stay as fun as possible".
We'd like to give thanks to all our dedicated staff, all of whom go the extra mile to ensure our guests are happy and well looked after during their holiday. We'd also like to thank all the team +Barefoot Media  Media, Jim, Ellie, Amber and Esme, who have helped us to develop our business in the last couple of years. #CTA2015   #cornwall

It seems that we have a sneaky ram who has crept in with a handful of ewes! Three mums have unexpectedly had lambs and who knows, there may be more on the way!  The newborns are enjoying balmy September weather in contrast to the usual chilly winds of February and March!  It is a mystery who the culprit ram may be, they have remained separated from the ewes, so it appears we have a very clever sheep amongst the herd!

Combining at Penpont Farm through the century! The first image is during the 1920's, before machines, Edgar Hawkey Senior is steering the horses. The second image is Edgar Hawkey Junior during the 1960's when they had no cab to sit in and the last image is Olly Hawkey in an all singing all dancing combine with air conditioning and music!! The crops have remained the same in the last 100 years, but how we harvest has changed dramatically!

We're shearing! With 900 sheep to shear, it's back breaking work, but the men are kept full of energy on some good farmhouse cooking, including saffron cake, yeast buns and sausage rolls (ands that's just their crib break!). The sheep get clipped, then the fleeces are packed up and sold for wool.

With lambing coming to an end on our farm, we were very pleased to see the sunshine today! Most of the lambs have made their way into the fields with their mums, it is a lovely sight seeing them prancing about! We have a few tame lambs and they will be making a home in Pet's Corner in time for the Easter Holidays.

Jack and his family stayed with us last week and he spent most of his time helping us in the lambing shed! Here is Jack's diary of his experience. https://www.theoldehouse.co.uk/jacks-lambing-diary/
