Microsoft's position today versus Google's position is the definition of nothing stays the same forever as long as innovators have dreams. Microsoft had the comfortability of being the dominant company in the PC market where they had brand reliability. Google's brand reliability was always the web where they became dominant. What does this have to do with OneNote? Well there are more people using tablets and smartphones versus windows phones. So Evernote and Google Keep will always be the go to apps for these things. My suggestions is that they release SDK's for their products and as crazy as it sounds make their key products open source.
Don't understand why anyone cares who founded the idea, what matters is that it exists, the software exists and that it's being used as an investment vehicle and a currency. I don't see, even from a historical perspective, why it matters.
