Lower Elementary - The Timeline of Life
The Timeline of Life, presented after the Second Great Lesson, gives students a glimpse into the sequence(s) of life on our planet before humankind. Meant to stimulate and extend their imaginations, it’s a source of endless fascination for elementary students. The material, being used here by some of our third levels, doesn’t share everything, only enough to strike their imagination and leave them with questions they can find answers to themselves. #timelineoflife #striketheimagination #montessori #TMA #privateschool #arlingtontx #arlington #texas #infant #nido #toddler #earlychildhood #preschool #kindergarten #elementary #education #privateeducation

Early Childhood - Practical Life: Iron Work
Many parents wouldn't consider showing their children how to iron, but, along with cooking and many Practical Life experiences, it's an amazing life skill to have! In our Montessori Curriculum it is an essential skill.

There is also something about introducing activities with a slight element of risk (cooking with heat/skillet, chopping with a real knife, etc.) that really gives the child a sense of empowerment, accomplishment, and achievement.

"Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed." Dr. Maria Montessori

Infant - Reading
We use books with realistic photos or high-contrast images to attract a child’s developing eyesight. Children are not able to discern fantasy from reality until about age 6, so we recommend using realistic images and concepts in books in the earliest years. Here, this infant looks at different photos of animals while forming understanding of them that she can relate to real life. #capable #independence #montessori #TMA #privateschool #arlingtontx #arlington #texas #infant #nido #toddler #earlychildhood #kindergarten #elementary #education #privateeducation

Upper Elementary - Grammar
Look at how engrossed this student is while completing his sentence analysis work! Breaking down the who, what, where, and when in extreme detail enhances his understanding of sentence structure and strengthens his writing abilities.#focus #IntrinsicLearning #montessori #TMA #privateschool #MariaMontessori #arlingtontx #arlington #texas #infant #nido #toddler #earlychildhood #preschool #kindergarten #elementary #education #privateeducation

Early Childhood - Language: The Sandpaper Letters

Learning letters in a Montessori classroom is very different than a traditional classroom. The Montessori approach allows children to begin sounding out words for themselves at a very young age.

Montessori teaches letters in a multi-sensory way, allowing students to learn by hearing, seeing, and feeling the letters. Rather than saying the name of the letter, we say the sounds the letter makes. The child traces the letter with her finger on the sandpaper letter, then makes the letter in the sand tray.

This amazing Montessori material helps the child to build muscle memory of the letter shape and sounds in preparation for writing and reading. #handsonlearning #capable #learningletters #montessori #TMA #privateschool #arlingtontx #arlington #texas #infant #nido #toddler #earlychildhood #preschool #kindergarten #elementary #education #privateeducation

Toddler - Imbucare
Imbucare is the Italian word meaning “to put inside.” Young toddlers are in a stage of understanding the world and often try to place objects into holes of various sizes. This toddler student is working on this concept and, in the process, he is learning focus and concentration along with motor coordination. #focus #concentration #intrinsicmotivation #montessori #TMA #privateschool #infant #nido #toddler #earlychildhood #kindergarten #elementary #education #privateeducation

Early Childhood - Montessori Multiplication Board
Learning to multiply can be a challenge for children, but the Montessori Multiplication Board makes it fun and easy to learn! The child using it needs to be able to count to 100 and have good fine motor skills to place small beads into small grooves.

The Multiplication Board gives a child a visual understanding of multiplication, and helps a child learn the multiplication tables 1 x 1 through 10 x 10. #mathisfun #capable #handsonlearning #montessori #TMA #privateschool #infant #nido #toddler #earlychildhood #preschool #kindergarten #elementary #education #privateeducation

Toddler - Practical Life: Table Setting
This Toddler student set the table for lunch by laying out all the place mats, then carefully placing each plate on a mat, and finishing by placing a cup on the mat. This daily lunch activity reinforces several pre-math skills including learning the steps of a process, 1 to 1 correspondence, counting, and sequential order. It also provides Grace and Courtesy lessons because toddlers act as community helpers by setting the table for the whole class. This task is rotated so all students are able to help the community. #capable #MoreThanMeetsTheEye #alwayslearning #handsonlearning #montessorihelpers #graceandcourtesy #Montessori #TMA #privateschool #ArlingtonTX #Arlington #Texas #infant #nido #toddler #earlychildhood #preschool #kindergarten #elementary #education #privateeducation

Early Childhood - Language: Moveable Alphabet
The Moveable Alphabet was developed by Dr. Montessori when she realized that children had the mental capacity to analyze the sounds in words well before they could synthesize them. The former is what we do when we write, while the latter is how we read.

When a child writes a word with the Moveable Alphabet, he does so phonetically by analyzing the sounds he hears as he says a word slowly out-loud. #handsonlearning #capable #alwayslearning #Montessori #TMA #privateschool #ArlingtonTX #Arlington #Texas #infant #nido #toddler #earlychildhood #preschool #kindergarten #elementary #education #privateeducation

Elementary: Math: Square of a Trinomial
This Upper Elementary student is using the Square Root Board to concretely visualize the square of a trinomial. The student uses the board and pegs to form squares of numbers; she is working on building the square of 237. After completing this work, the student is able to provide the answer and easily see why 237 squared equals 56,169. #concretetoabstract #handsonlearning #mathisfun #Montessori #TMA #privateschool #ArlingtonTX #Arlington #Texas #infant #nido #toddler #earlychildhood #preschool #kindergarten #elementary #education #privateeducation
