Financial Times Deutschland closes

The last edition of German daily Financial Times Deutschland will appear on December 7, the publishers announced today.

They blame the paper's closure on the impact of the internet, saying they were unable to find "a business model that could finance our standards of journalism."

Another major German newspaper, the Frankfurter Rundschau also filed for bankruptcy last week, though it could well be saved by a buyer.

+Patrik Järvelöv, the FTD said it was trying to find "a business model that could finance our standards of journalism." Our approach is to find a standard of journalism that can be financed by our business model.
