I have stayed here twice and both times it's been an excellent experience. The way you would like all hotels would be. The decor is perfect for DC and the library is worth hanging out in. The bar is also worth hanging out in.

The hotel is beautiful and very conveniently located in DC. The atmosphere is great and the service was fast, courteous, and responsible. At the end of my stay, my aunt accidentally left her cell phone in the hotel room. The hotel staff (particularly Heather) was very fast and helpful in locating the lost phone and then shipping it internationally to my aunt. I had a wonderful experience at this hotel and recommend it for all who visit DC!

We had a very bad experience with the doorman named Alvaro as we were leaving the hotel. He got to an altercation with our stretch limousine chauffeur. He would not let our chauffeur handle our bags and was arguing with our driver about that. We had two light bags and in the process of putting them in his trunk he hit our bag against the bumper. Thank God nothing got damaged inside our bag. When our driver insisted on to let him handle, Alvaro would not let the bag go and got very confrontational. Our driver told him that he was being very unprofessional and to calm down. Then he would not let our chauffeur shut the door of the limo claiming he would handle the door. He was very weird. After he shut the door after us, he was running his mouth to the driver as our driver was walking to get in the driers seat. I can't believe such a hotel would hire such an unprofessional employees. I was shocked. Also when we showed up the night before, there was no sign of a doorman to handle our bags so we had to carry our own bags. It was a very unprofessional and unpleasant experience. When we called the hotel to complain, they just brushed us off stating that there is a two sides of a story. I would give it a zero star if they had a zero star to rate.

We've done two happy hours for Columbia Business School Alumni in this is quiet refined gem of a hotel bar, Quill, which is arguably my favorite in the city. Staunch club supporter Dan Anglin of Prince Henry Navigator funds presented his major gift to me there. I went there for a celebratory meal as well, and the service was outstanding: when ladies sit, out come foot stools, very plus, for the lady's handbag -- lest it get 'dirty' on the pristine floor. And when you depart, the staff presents you with a parchment printed with the wines you consumed, for future reference - and knowing that in your tipsy state you'd never remember on your own.
