The 114-room art boutique The James brings dozens of comfortable amenities—including a wine hour, Intelligent Nutrients organic toiletries, a spacious garden patio, and a design that is similar to lofts in the city—but the greatest draw is the location in SoHo. You're blocks from the best downtow...

Perched on the edge of SoHo at the end of one of its most interesting streets, full of one off boutiques and unusual emporiums, The James is a glass slab tower that attracts daylight like a beacon. Natural is the key word in terms of detail: Linen sheets, wooden floors, cashmere cushion. The luxury of understated quality.

Took a flier on The James as I am getting away from staying at the large, multinational hotel conglomerates when I travel for business in favor of the boutiques due to what I perceive as deterioration of their service and of the quality of their properties. If the boutiques live up to The James, I may never go back. Great service, with a smile. Fantastic restaurant. Great location in the middle of SoHo. Even more fantastic rooftop bar with a view from Freedom Tower all the way to Chrysler building. Rooftop pool. Gym on the top floor with a 360 view of manhattan. Rooftop yoga. Raising the roof in general. As for the rooms, Light filled rooms with quality bedding, a fully stocked minibar with practical stuff I would actually consider buying in a pinch (I.e, a universal charger rather than a $30 shot of Hennessy). All natural toiletries. A business center with sleek iMacs. Free wi-fi. And I should mention that the entire hotel is covered with art, from the lobby to the numbers outside your room. After one night, this is already one of my favorite hotels. Starwood, Marriott take notice. This is what a hotel experience should be. Will definitely go back.

After my friend was raving about how cool the place to come to for an after work spot. I went to check it out. I was a little disappointed. It was a friday and the place closed down at 11pm. What more to say....

One of my favorite hotels in NYC. My King Guestroom was decent in size and felt very spacious because of the high ceilings, large windows and glass wall in the bathroom. Very modern, clean and calming environment with sleek furniture and dark hardwoods. Very comfortable bed and high end bathroom with great shower, toiletries and oversized towels. I had a great experience with the staff, from the doorman that greeted me at the street, front desk staff and indirectly with the housekeeping staff. The staff was very friendly and thoughtful, e.g. they came and knocked on my door when I didn't answer my wake-up call. Light refreshments/snacks served in the lobby all day. Also, I'm a big fan of David Burke and really enjoyed this restaurant -- try the bacon-wrapped peanut butter-filled dates!

For a NYC hotel in SOHO the 2nd roof garden and outdoor area makes you feel like you are in the country. This is absolutely beautiful. The views are stunning and they have a roof top pool that overlooks downtown manhattan. The décor is truly creative and innovative at the same time.

Hip, cool, modern + futuristic NY hotel --milk bar meets blade runner + hanging gardens of babylon + 21 century sky lobby -- this diamond rises like a phoenix proving that NYC is the place to be--with great art, hospitality, international flair (just like its Bauhaus roots) -- Get thee to The James in SoHo if you want to be transported to the Best of the Best that NYC has to offer --

Extremely courteous staff who provided me with great insight about the city! The room service was impeccable as well as the turn down service. Additionally, The JIMMY at The James is a place you must visit if you're a guest at the hotel or staying in NYC. It is located on the roof and you get an incredible view of the city day or night!

So happy to hear about your stay here in Soho. Our neighborhood is such a unique extension of the hotel and we are so glad you were able to experience Jimmy our rooftop bar and lounge with amazing views of NYC. Your thoughtful comments are truly appreciated and will be shared with our entire staff. Thank you again for sharing your experience and we look forward to your next stay with us!

My wife and I both loved this hotel. The room may have been small -- it's New York, after all -- but it felt efficient rather than cramped. Rain shower-head, super-comfy bed, oversized towels, great view, high-end drinks and snacks in-room if you want them, and convenient Soho location. Would definitely stay again.
