#Islanders: Did you feel the #earthquake last night?
A magnitude-3.2 earthquake occurred 12 miles off the coast of Catalina Island Wednesday night, but appears to have had little impact.

Rare #Shark spotted off the coast of #CatalinaIsland!
Whale shark swims alongside Triton sportfisher By Pete Thomas/GrindTv The number of bizarre catches or sightings off Southern California continues to rise and on Sunday perhaps the rarest visitor to date was documented: a whale shark. Whale sharks are the world’s largest fish, reaching lengths of 30-plus feet. And while these docile plankton-eaters are often seen by divers at destinations such as Hawaii, southern Mexico and the Sea of Cortez, the...

I usually have a nice time at the Edgewater Hotel, but this time around I met the owner and I should say her daughter...I took my 2 daughters with me and this is not the 1st time I have taken them, we go several times, this time I spent almost a 1000.00 dollars in cash to stay 2 days there. We met some people from another room very pleasant, in fact we exchange numbers, but there where a couple across the hall, and every sound we made, they called the front desk. Yes the whole 2 days these two women were out, no complains, but the minute they arrived back to the room "complaints" about the noise. No one else seemed to be complaining, so however one of my daughters was starting to get upset and yes she was drinking, but there was no problem except with this couple.. whenever they came back to there room. Police got involved, the owner swears she does not accept swearing in her family hotel, but when it came out of her daughter mouth, "it was because she is very protected of her" and my daughter is not! my daughter tried to apologize and the owners daughter would have no part of it. My daughters went home early! The owner stated that I could come back and stay but not my daughters. Well like I am going to really spend mine and my husbands hard earned money there again! There plenty of hotels on the island I will not and won't ever go back go The Edgewater Hotel again, now the staff are very friendly, people. Totally different story, nice friendly etc... The reason I am writing this.. is because of the fact the owner came out and told me to "go ahead and write on the reviews" she didn't care. So here it is.

Response from the owner - 2 months ago
Last weekend was the first time, in The Edgewater's long history, that we have had to call the police due to inappropriate behavior from one room aimed towards another guest room. Our main goal at The Edgewater is to provide guests with a safe and peaceful retreat where they can enjoy the Island. Guests complained due to noise, intoxication and being fearful to exit their rooms or even to remain on the property. The police were called to help mediate the situation and maintain peace on the property. The Edgewater will remain a peaceful retreat for guests as we will do all in our power to maintain this environment for many decades to come. -The Edgewater Staff & Management

We love this place! Can't stop going back. My husband and I visited in May. I just love the beautiful view from the front room. I could sit all day watching the harbor. At this time of year it is a bit quieter, no wild and crazy people. I enjoy visiting with the owner, and appreciate the fact that she screens the clientele. Wow, she is more interested in the ambience than the bottom line. I don't think I have heard that at a hotel before. I can't wait to go back and I hope it doesn't change a bit! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Greetings! Thank you for your return stay at The Edgewater! We are glad you have enjoyed your many visits with us! Yes, due to 2nd stage water rationing on the island and limited water allotment, we try to screen our reservations for double occupancy in our rooms as well as communicate the need for water conservation to our guests. (3rd stage water rationing is expected sometime this summer.) Thank you again for recognizing The Edgewater as your hotel of choice! The Staff appreciates your continued support. All the best, The Edgewater Team
