This is too sad. I never insulted the religious in my post. I called them ignorant for holding anti-gay comments which is fact, not an insult. The idiot comment I made was regarding an asinine comment stating that gay people are gay just to get laid. If you don't think that's stupid, then stupid is as stupid does.
The Bible, as written by men, smart men with very good language skills, is not the direct transcription of the words of God. It is a book written by men. The only part of the Bible that even purports to be the direct words of God are "The Ten Commandments" given to Moses on Mount Sinai by God in the form of a flaming bush. And that part, along with the Sodom and Gomorrah analogies so often used, come from the Torah (Jewish holy book).
The Ten Commandments are actually just a subsection of the laws provided, most of which were directly preached on by Jesus as written in the Gospels (written by men). One of those laws indicates do not lie with another man if you are a man, etc... Not denying that part, but what I am saying is despite the fact that Jesus preached on many Jewish Laws (remember he was Jewish), there is no comments from him with regards to homosexuality. To me that's a big gap.
The only request I made was for someone to quote me a passage with the specific reference that indicates where Jesus Christ specifically addressed homosexuality, one way or another. I do not agree that silence is acceptance because he spoke on other parts of the Torah, both for and against.
The difference is that I've actually read the Bible. Several times over. I wouldn't consider myself a religious person, but I'm also not an atheist or even agnostic. I'm just non practicing, but it doesn't mean I'm ignorant to what Jesus actually said, did, or how that may apply to the modern world.
