Lindy Gross – Managing Creative Director at the American Cancer Society
Creative Circus Alumna- Copywriting (1999)

"My favorite projects have always been the ones that helped other humans – lowering accidental handgun deaths, feeding hungry people, helping women in developing nations lift their families out of poverty.

Did these projects win awards? Actually, yeah, a few did, but that’s not the point.
The point is, these projects let me stay true to myself.

As an idealistic 16 year old, I wanted to change the world and I knew advertising had the power to do that – which is why I got into this crazy business.

The moral of the story? We all have our reasons for being here. Stay true to yours, and most of your projects will be your favorites." - Lindy Gross

Twice a year, students at the Circus submit their favorite projects to be judged by a bunch of industry folks all over the country (sometimes the world), for the chance to win pride, honor, the ability to boast on a résumé, and a bit of prize money.

We celebrated our Fall 2017 Student Show this past Friday.

Congratulations to the winners and everyone who contributed.

Sarah Gatling Latz – Senior Copywriter at FCB Chicago
Creative Circus Alumna- Copywriting (2011)

"There are going to be unexpectedly awesome opportunities no matter what account you work on. There are also going to be a lot of crappy banner ads and social media posts you have to do as a junior. Work hard, stay hungry and stay humble. Kim Kurtz always said, be the person your coworkers miss when you’re out of the office. If you can live by that motto, you’ll go far." - Sarah Gatling Latz

"You don’t realize the domino effect of your decisions until years down the road.
The Circus was dog friendly, so I got a dog. Two years later, said dog and I drove up to Chicago. I’d planned on working at Leo for maybe a year, then moving to New York. But I met a guy when he commented on the dog. I really started to like him when I walked in one day and he was singing to the dog, a song he made up about the dog.

Fast forward a few years. We got married, got another dog, had a baby, bought a house. Now Chicago is my home. I love my career here, teaching here, the friends who became family, family that became best friends.
I can’t help but think, maybe it all happened, because I went to the Circus, a dog friendly school. And that means the world to me." - Sarah Gatling Latz

Join us on Tuesday, November 28th at 6:30 PM for our Evening Open House. We will be giving tours of our creative warehouse, sharing what makes our web development and design programs unique & valuable, hosting a panel of current web development & design students, and showcasing some of the latest work from our students & alumni.

Interactive Developers & graphic designers are in high demand. Stop by & learn how you can benefit from studying at The Creative Circus.

This is a web development program housed inside a Marketing Communications school. That’s what makes this program different. At the Circus you’ll focus on the creative side of development, making web experiences that surprise and delight visitors. While college computer science nerds are tuning algorithms and optimizing databases, and the kids in those cute little three month coding bootcamps are making little to-do lists, and ugly, boring webapps, we’re over here making the animated, exciting, engaging, beautiful stuff that could win Awwwards. If that sounds like fun to you, you have found your new career.

“This is SO *@!%ing COOL!” is the best reaction a designer can get. It’s proof that the magic worked. What’s the magic all about you ask? It’s called manipulation. Not the manipulation that offends; rather, the kind that drops jaws in amazement. Designers create things by manipulating any media, any dimension or materials necessary. It’s taking a thought and, by using divination, desperation, resourcefulness, perspiration and enchantment, making it real — and with the right magic, really *@!%ing cool.
