Your right, why can't everyone just get in line and all watch the same news station. it works for china so it should work here! damn people and their free thinking. we should ban that next! sumbitches.

Hahahaha...Fox News...free thinking...hahahahaha.  Whew...good one!

I wub watching Faux Noise, too, Stephen! They suck at news because they aren't really a news channel just because they have the word News in their name Fox News Channel!

Yeah because none of the other news sources are slanted or biased at all.

And for the record i don't watch fox news. I also do not watch any one source of news for anything especially for a story i am interested in.

My point is that it is currently the cool thing to hate fox news because you know, all the cool people are doing it. Who really gives a crap what other people watch? And what right do you have to tell them what to watch and that what they are watching is not cool?

I don't hate Faux just because its "anchors" and its believers have a collective brain activity lass than that of a single celled amoeba.

If they are flat out lying there is a court system for that and they persons, companies, whatever should take them to court for slander/liable. Simple as that. But i don't here that happening a lot against fox news.

Yeah, like that would happen for calling the POTUS a socialist, communist, Marxist, Muslim, Kenyan dictator and Affirmative Action President named Barry Soetero.

That young Republican man who destroyed voter registration forms got away free, so Republicans will always get away doing what the rest of us would be arrested and jailed for.

So ultimately your complaining about an entertainment station not being accurate ... are we also going to complain that the national enquirer does not offer up enough proof that bigfoot really exists?

Pointing out they're just infotainment isn't complaining, Matt.

Did the LAPD ever get the jet packs?

And i suppose you think this is a Democracy too?

We all know we're a Republic without the Constitutional hack Glenn Beck writing it on his chalkboard over and over.

and what separates us from becoming a socialist republic? with the passing of Obamacare what is left that makes us different from European socialist states?

We aren't becoming European shoshulists no matter how much Papa O'Reilly caws about it. Stephen Colbert should have a talk with Bill and 'splain it to him.

Socialist?  I don't think that word means what you think it means.

That only avoids the question, the question remains.

Also, I don't think there is a "court system for that" Fox 'News' issue - that "First Amendment" thing, you know.

+Greg S. no sorry, 1st amendment does not cover news sources willfully lying. I'm sure i could find you ample proof but i doubt you would read it.

When you keep saying out LOUD we're becoming a soshulist Europe, you will never believe you're lying to yourself.

+Matthew Stone The Affordable Care Act is one of the biggest giveaways to private insurers in history. It's not a government run single payer system, as you find in much of the rest of the civilized world, where they believe access to health care is a right and not a privilege. So your comparison to "Socialized Europe" is a poor one. Also, they have more options in public transportation and electrified high speed rail, which could save us tons of money here in the USA, but we don't use because that would be "socialist," or something. Another thing that Europe has is literacy. I'm not sure if it's a bug on the Fox News G+ page, but their followers seem to be unable to string a sentence together. Maybe they're excersizing their rights to Free Speech a little too freely. Anyway, our 200 year old country has a lot to learn to be worthy of comparison to a 2000+ year continent. We still can't manage to go a few weeks without a massive shooting, and our Congress is arguing whether it's more important to maintain tax breaks for billionaires or to shave a few dollars from the Endless War budget.

We're a dyslexic socialist country.

And "Obamacare" is hardly socialist. It's a gigantic hand job to the Insurance cartels. It is modeled after "Romneycare", and the mandate is a Heritage Foundation idea, despite what the Conservative Mainstream Media says.

I am glad I am not dependent on Uncle Sam either like that SS survivor's benefits moocher Paul Davis Ryan is or Mitt's welfare mooching father George Romney was. But I am glad those programs were there for them when they needed it.

Paying lost of money for a high speed rail for nobody to use in America would be idiocy.

Who owns the insurance isn't as big of an issue as you think. Even it is it not a Government run system it is a Government mandated system. I'm sure some needy people will benefit from this, but i seriously doubt it is as many as you wishfully think. I also seriously doubt it is the poor people who will benefit.

The lawyers will benefit, the companies holding the policies will benefit. Some hospitals may benefit from an increase in traffic.

+Matthew Stone Gee Karnac, you can see into the future and know that nobody would use high speed rail?

Who's going to win the Super Bowl in 2016?

The feds have been cracking down more in the past 4 years, so report any frauds when you see them. The truly needy people like the elderly, disabled and the military vets shouldn't suffer because some able-bodied SOBs take advantage.

<wrings fist while bitching about govt mandated health insurance>

<facepalms after realizing that no one is bitching about govt mandated car insurance>

+Andy Britt You're not making any snese [sic].

I said I have no problem with George helpong [sic] his youngest brat Mitt.

And my late Dad wasn't unsuccessful. He did fine as am I.

+Blackest Sabbath i judge that from the number of SUV's still on the road. people are still too in love with their car as a status symbol. I do hope you are right and i am wrong though, that does need to change.

+Andy Britt Small business. Like TeaBirchers give a damn about small business.

Good for Mitt and his $75K tax deduction horsey Rafalca.

He must have amended his 1040s by now since his loss.

I always love it when the trolls jump on to a post by +The Colbert Report. I wish I had that kind of time to waist not convincing anyone of my beliefs. (Because if you think you're winning any argument here...you're even more deluded than we think you are.) Conversely, I'm off to do a project with my daughters, even though it'll mean that by muting this post, I'll miss more snappy comebacks that will not change my mind. :)

As a business owner, will Mitt only be hiring his own kids as employees? Anyone that argues for school vouchers is shortsighted. Good for you if you want to have your children taught that the world was made 6,000 years ago by an invisible sky wizard, that's your choice. But as a society, we need to be sure that our children - the workers of tomorrow - can read, write and think so that we have smart employees and entrepreneurs. Withholding funds from public schools due to religious preference only means your future fellow citizen will be more dependent on the government, not less, you stupid shortsighted fools.

Man, I love it when people try to shrug off burden of proof by saying "I could find you proof but you wouldn't read it."  I guess they don't have any  evidence after all then!

+Matthew Stone  I think in the more populated areas of the country it will, because of traffic jams. I wish I could take one to work

Actually school vouchers have been proven to work in other countries and here in America where they have been tried. Also nowhere in the Bible does it say that the Earth is 6k years old. It also does not say: The world is flat, the earth/sun/moon/Jupiter is the center of the universe, humans were the only being created, ect.

And +Greg S. it is not my fault if you do not know simple law.
Greg S.

It is however your fault if you want to assert that the First Amendment doesn't cover Faux News but don't want to bear the burden of proof.  *shrug* Your call.

that's because it's easier to blame someone else for your problems than to take matter into your own hands. :/

+Andy Britt You're kidding about the health system's efficiency, right?  The private health care system in the United States is astonishingly ineffective and inefficient per dollar spent, not to mention closed to many.

And the government is so well known for efficiency. bad argument.

It literally can't be worse than the private sector.  They were brilliant to turn medicine into a "fee for service" business - then they could invent all kinds of "services" to charge for, whether or not they did anything for a patient's health!

i don't have time for the research right now  (at work), spent WAY too much time on this thread already. I will try to do the research for you and make a post in a few days about it.

So it wasn't your skepticism that we would read it, it was more you don't want to do the work to back up your assertion?

Well then it was really shitty to assume someone wouldn't read it when it was just you not wanting to do the work.
Greg S.

+Andy Britt I guess you don't!  (Understand the question or have a choice, that is.)  [ETA: I seem to remember interacting with you in the past, which was similarly low in usefulness or content.  Got to remember this for the future.]

I can send a letter to my aunt in Chicago through the USPS for 44 cents. I wish our health system ran that efficiently.

And as far as "freedom to choose your doctor", I shredded my knee snowboarding in Utah 10 years ago, and it damn near bankrupted me because I was "Out of Network", whereas if I had had my injury at say, Monarch, then It wouldn't have cost me so much.

That's right wannabe millionaire +Andy Britt (I don't buy for a second that you own a business). Because I can't afford to have 3/4 of my salary to go to Super Awesome Health Care, I should just lock myself in my house and not do anything. That's freedom baybee!!!!

ok, now we've all said our peace. ... GROUP HUG!!! :p

+Andy Britt As I stated before, you are way to dense to be a millionaire.

Im sorry but once you advocate yourself as a news publication, it should be taken with the obligation to report accurately and retract statements when they are otherwise.

This doesn't so much go as to "news" pages for things like personal sites, but if you are posting news as a business, publication, or any form of formal organization, you should be accurate in your statements.  Religious aspects would obviously be conflict as anything they can post could be arguably fall into question.  Exemptions for non-hostile messages based on beleif/religion would be posted in that case.  But what goes on at news organizations is greatly characterized in the movie Good Morning, Vietnam with Robbin Williams.  News articles and publications deemed detrimental by the holding party are withheld from the public or shown in a skewed perspective or with an overbearing presenter/orator.

Fox Channel has the right to display programs they feel is in line with their message.  Fox News is the news channel for those who generally follow the political ideology of the Fox News executives/boards/committees, etc.  Fox itself has freedom of speech, but I believe that again, taking on the mantle of a NEWS agency, Fox News (and ALL FORMS of News Publications) have a responsibility for providing non-biased news to its viewer-base.  If Fox so wanted a voice for its political aspirations like any main-stream celebs, Glenn Beck, Limbaugh, etc, they should be on a channel expressly designated as a purpose other than News Publication.

Sorry but try and refute that.

I only watch local news now. I read the rest. I can't stand the slant in either direction. It disgusts me.
Greg S.

+Keenan Leary I can't refute it - i just wish Fox News could somehow be made to adhere to it!

+Andy Britt Listen up dipshit. You accused me of being "irresponsible and didnt pay for better covereage???" And I said that if I wanted insurance that would cover me should I get injured in another state (god forbid I should ever leave my state) that it would cost me 3/4 of my salary. I looked into it. Now you want to go on this board and say the $300 a month is 3/4ths of my salary because A. You're incredibly fucking stupid . B. You're a total and complete dick. or C. Both

Either or, the whole point is that it's mathematically impossible for everyone to become rich and have their own personal physician. So people get their insurance through their workplace. Then said Insurance company sends a booklet listing all the doctors that take their insurance. So let's say you've been going to Dr. Jablonski for years. Then you get a new job and Dr. Jablonski doesn't take your new insurance. So what do you do? Do you get a new Doctor where all you have are co-pays or do you pay 20% more to Dr. Jablonski?

Like i said, that's freedom baybee!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as your little rinky dink company goes, I could really care less

People who are judging other people based solely on their political beliefs are the absolute reason our government is as screwed up as it is. Get over yourselves and stop playing into the 24 hour news cycle who need you to hate the others to make commercial ad dollars.

that's the best thing I've seen all year.

+Justin Boucher Someone obviously doesn't understand that the Colbert Report is satire.

+Keenan Leary Having a slant in one direction or another isn't proper journalism, but has become the norm for the News industry.  That's not the real problem with Fox.  It's that they distort reality and tell blatant falsehoods.  A prime example was the 2nd Tea Party Rally.  It took place in the Fall and had a much lower attendance than the first one from the Spring of that year.  In order to make the rally look bigger, they substituted aerial shots from the first rally when reporting on the second.  They didn't however take into account that the leaves on the trees were green in the Spring and the colors were changing in the Fall.  So, the close-up shots showed Autumn colors and the far-away shots showed green leaves.  This is pure deception, not reporting.  They even had their producers in the crowds, organizing protesters and starting chants, then filming them.  They were manufacturing "news", not reporting on actual events.  How is any of that journalism?

Journalism should not have a slant, ever. Fox, CNN and, MSNBC are 80% op-ed cloaked as journalism, and that is bullshit.

+Chris Auer  Totally agree.  But how else are they going to fill a 24-hour-a-day news channel?  The format is inherently broken.

+Chris Hansford I keep on hearing the excuse that they don't have enough to cover, but NPR which isn't even close to having the budget that they have, an organization that repeats it shows during the news day has more stories to report than these 24 hours news networks.

Colbert & Stewart at least are entertaining - the TV news channels are loaded with commentary and fluff stories. I just don't have the time and patience to sit in front of a screen trying to mine a few nuggets of real news out of all that. NPR is a better bet because one can listen while doing something else, and there is much more actual news coverage. Alternatively, there are some good podcasts like the BBC Global News.

BBC is amazing. PBS isn't bad either... it seems like discovery channel  is kind of disaster-oriented. Note: I Survived, Monsters Inside Of Me, Body Invaders, and Locked-Up Abroad

I love listening on BBC World Service to the reporters giving dictators, etc. a bad time during interviews.  "But doesn't this mean that you condone killing those who are of different political parties?" "But if that's the case, aren't you saying that it's okay to rape these people?"

+Greg S. BBC World Service is great, unless they're covering soccer, then it's just soccer forever and ever and ever.
