๐ŸŽ’Backpack Safety Tips!๐ŸŽ’
The way you carry your backpack can affect your posture and spine. Here are 6 helpful tips on how to properly wear a backpack to avoid aches and pains, and aid in the healthy development of your children's bodies.

1. Wear both strapsโœŒ๐Ÿผ: By wearing two shoulder straps, the weight of the backpack is better distributed, and a well-aligned symmetrical posture is promoted. Kids (and especially teens) who wear their backpacks over just one shoulder end up leaning to one side to offset the extra weight, this leads to the development of lower and upper back pain and strain in the shoulders and neck.

2. Tighten the straps: Adjust the shoulder straps so that the pack fits snugly to the back while still allowing the pack to be put on and taken off easily. A pack that hangs loosely from the back can pull you backwards and strain muscles.

3. Choose a backpack with wide, comfortable straps: Tight, narrow straps cut into the shoulders can interfere with circulation and nerves, and contribute to tingling, numbness and weakness in the arms and hands.

4. Pack it properly: Put heavier textbooks closest to the center of the back. Utilize multiple compartments to better distribute the weight in the backpack. And make sure kids aren't toting around extra books and electronics that they do not need for that day. ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“•๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“˜๐Ÿ“™

5. Lighten the load: Kids should carry no more than 10-15% of their body weight. If your child is leaning forward while wearing their backpack, there is too much weight in the pack!

6. Finally, have your child examined regularly by a chiropractor so that any potential spinal, or postural, problems can be addressed and corrected. ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿผโ€โš•๏ธ

Why live with a pain in your neck if you don't have to?
Here are 5 TIPS to help release some tension to help combat neck & back pain! https://www.reddingchiropracticplace.com/neck-pain-tips/
1. Stop Sleeping on Your Stomach: Try instead to sleep on your side with a pillow between you legs or on your back with a pillow under your knees.
2. Stretch Out Your Hamstrings: This can cause misalignment and terrible pain. Do stretches every morning and evening to stay lose and flexible.
3. No More "Text Neck" Staring at Your Phone: Take a look at your phone, do you feel your chin going down to your chest? That makes your neck go in a C shape. Try propping your arms up to keep your neck straight. If you are using a tablet try propping it up on your knees instead of keeping it flat in your lap.
4. Get Up and Move: When you sit at at a desk all day your whole body is getting tight, it really helps to get up and move through out the day. You may want to try setting an alarm for every 2 hours to get up and walk around for a few minutes. The more active we are the less we will hurt!
5. Routine Chiropractic Care - Think a chiropractor just cracks your back and sends you on your way? Not true. A chiropractorโ€™s goal is to not only to relieve pain but to keep you pain-free between adjustments! The spinal manipulations used to correct subluxations (misalignments) of the spine can relieve painful pressure in your neck, back and head.
To achieve optimal wellness, follow these simple tips to keep your back and neck aligned and reduce muscle or nerve pain.
