I just hate to see across the board cuts including things like ied protection for personnel and vehicles when we could really focus on cutting the production of say fighter jets and decommission nukes which are both almost totally unnecessary in modern combat.
The amount of spending must be cut. Defense will be drawing down so that is an easy one. The rest of the cuts are easier to argue about but more necessary to cut. The non defense portion of the budget should be cut, across the board, a minimum of 10 percent. These need to be real cuts. Not decreases in future spending. Any politician who tries to pass off cuts in future spending is a liar and does not deserve our consideration. The cowardice being exhibited over the sequestration by the democrats is par for the course. The republicans should be ashamed they even agreed to sequestration. But since they did, they need to man up and stand by their word.
