Ill preface this by saying I have been to this restaurant twice before and loved it, but this most recent experience ensured I will never be going there again. I went here for dessert with my family after a UT football game (they were staying in the ATT Conference Center and the manager had mentioned they were going to have a special dessert menu for everyone on game night) and I've got to say we had the rudest experience I've ever had in a restaurant. Never in my life have we walked out of a restaurant before even getting water on the table. The waiter was extremely rude, but what made it much worse was the manager acting like a buffoon and refusing to remedy the situation. I get it that certain requests are aren't possible and nobody is perfect, but when you literally tell me and my family that you will have a big dessert menu and then have two freaking things on it, thats just straight up lying. And then to be rude when we ask if there is anyway they could just procure something else as basic as ice cream was just downright disgraceful. We weren't expecting much, but when you lie to us, have an extremely rude waiter laugh at us for asking why there's only two things on the dessert menu and requesting if he could see about ice cream, and then having the manager try and defend the two things on the menu as a large menu, thats just ridiculous. Your restaurant and especially management is a joke, we always wondered why the restaurant was empty when we went in. Now we know

It's not just about dining. Well, what am I talking about? It's so totally not about dining. It is art! It's a gastronomic adventure, a masterpiece of culinary. Don't even think of it in terms of "eating out" because it's completely different genre.

The droning smooth jazz that was the musical choice here is a good analogy for my experience overall here. It's trying hard to be something, but no one actually likes it. It doesn't try to be something special . The exception to this was the service. Prompt and knowledgeable about the menu, they also offered us a number of complementary items. The other parts of the staff on the other hand were hit and miss, a theme for the night. 15 minutes to get my drink, a simple iced tea, . On a Wednesday night the place was empty, not something typical of a restaurant in a boom town such as Austin, that fact alone solidified the rest of my experience, disappointment... Appetizers that sounded great on paper ended up being total hit or miss, boar ribs = McRibs, sweet potato croquettes = pretty decent fried morsels. I ordered the smoked pork chop, a menu item raved about by the server, but it ended up tasting like a modified Christmas ham - smoked, rubbery, and boring in flavor choices. I wish I went to Perry's after gnawing at it. But, like the apps being it or miss, the prime ribeye steak I sampled was actually decent. Land mines at every turn. Dessert sealed the same fate - my stout banana cake was presented to me as if a joke. "Let's take a piece of cake, rip it into little bits, and throw some other accoutrements on top - bam!" On the other hand the flan was pretty decent. It's funny how with the large group at the table none of us had heard of this restaurant before, and the more I think about it, it's no wonder.

The food is fresh, inventive and masterly prepared. Chef Chris Wilson and his staff defiantly kept our taste buds wanting more. Service was a big plus with a friendly staff who know their menu and guided my party thru a 7crs wine paring .. Just the best meal we've ever had..

Great place for a special occasion, the food is amazing. The ambience is a little sterile, however the food delivers you to a different place. The service is the best in the city providing 5 star treatment. The drinks are creative and delicious with a twist. They have specials all the time, so try it you won't be disappointed.

This is one of the most amazing dining experiences I've had. The food is exquisite -- the kind that's prepared to such a level of perfection, you'd lick the plate if you didn't think people would stare. It's expensive, to be sure, but you won't ever leave feeling like you paid too much for what you just enjoyed. They also took great care of one of my dining companion's gluten restrictions and made sure she had a meal should could enjoy in its entirety without concern or by leaving certain dishes on the plate. Just wonderful!
