Just because you're staying away from meat and dairy, it doesn't mean you don't crave pizza! Even for those of us that are not vegan, Chinatown's new Virtuous Pie offers delicious, creative pizzas with names like "Stranger Wings" (buffalo-style cauliflower with "blue cheese" drizzle) and "Kim Jack-Il" (a Korean-influenced pie with braised jackfruit and kimchi). Pair your pizza with a local craft brew, and finish off with a scoop or two of dairy-free ice cream. We're sold!

It's time for the Vancouver Fringe Festival! Starting tonight and running through to September 18, this theatre festival has a little something for everyone. In fact, shows are drawn out of a hat to be performed on the Mainstage - how democratic is that?

Vancouver is in for a few sweltering days (at least, by Vancouver standards!) so you might want to hit the beach while you're in the city! That's right: Vancouver has beaches! Dotted along the shores of the Burrard Inlet, you'll find sunny stretches of sand, perfect for a game of volleyball, an afternoon with a good book, or some people watching. Check out this guide to find your perfect Vancouver beach, then grab on of The Burrard's cruiser bikes and get pedaling! http://ow.ly/OOYr303w43L
Explore some of the best beaches around in the city of Vancouver, BC. Spread out and relax in the sand with a good book, details here.

Tuesdays are free admission at The PNE this year! Save your cash for rides on the classic old wooden roller coaster, deep-fried jelly beans, or one of those legendary Jimmy's Burgers piled high with fried onions. Then take in the canine extravaganza known as The SuperDogs, or free concerts by the likes of Olivia Newton-John, Culture Club and Foreigner! http://ow.ly/dEKk303toft

We always suspected (hoped?) that drinking cocktails was good for our health, so we love this interview with Vanessa Bourget from Exile Bistro. This spot is just a short walk from The Burrard, and an amazing hidden gem. The team at Exile lovingly create an inspiring menu from foraged ingredients and seasonal produce, including their delectable cocktails. http://ow.ly/mNJ8303g2ty
We chatted with Vanessa Bourget of Exile Bistro about this idea as well her latest summer sippers, here’s what she had to say.

It's almost that time of the year, where we get ready for our very own celebration of the screen, Vancouver International Film Festival! Running from September 29 - October 14, VIFF is more approachable than most film festivals, which is to say that normal people like us can actually just buy a ticket and attend a screening. Check out what's showing via the website.

We're always up for a wine tasting, and when it happens to be a room filled with nerdy, terroir-driven gems, then so much the better! This Thursday is Top Drop Vancouver's "Main Event" tasting just down the road from us at The Roundhouse in Yaletown. You'll find a room full of handcrafted wines from around the world, alongside craft beers, ciders and artisanal snacks. Proceeds go to charity, and you're pretty much guaranteed to find your next favourite bottle. http://ow.ly/N18z303ULep

The writing is on the wall: the city has a brand new annual event, Vancouver Mural Festival. On Saturday, taking place on walls all around the Mt. Pleasant/Main Street areas, you'll see new works of art by international artists and talented locals (like Jay Senetchko, show here). On top of the beautiful visuals, the festival also brings you a series of concerts at venues in the same neighbourhood: free outdoor stages during the day, and concerts at spots like Fox Cabaret, The Biltmore and The Cobalt at night. Find out more here: http://www.vancouvermuralfestival.com/

Had an exceptional stay here. Staff are friendly and helpful. The retro theme is adorable. Clean rooms. Great location. I very much enjoyed the free bicycle rentals and complimentary use of umbrellas! Also their attached cafe makes lovely lattes. Overall an awesome experience.

We lived our stay at The Burrard! A lot of the reviews here are really unfair. People are nitpicking stuff like small sinks and city noise, which are ridiculous reasons for taking points away. The hotel itself has a style you won't find anywhere else. The staff was super friendly with us and helped with every question we had. The room was clean and although a bit small, still perfect for our needs (how much time do you even spend in your hotel room while on vacation?). The patio area in the center of the hotel is beautiful and really relaxing. There isn't a bar, but you can grab your own drinks nearby and pop them at the hotel. Parking is a bit tight, but still conveniently located downstairs. Some people were complaining about limited bikes in the reviews, but on a Friday and Saturday there were about 15 of them available at 10am. Bottom line: if you can appreciate the style and humor this hotel provides, you'll love it! We will definitely be back!

Very clean rooms and great location. Rooms are a bit small but the area is great so you shouldn't be spending too much time in the rooms. Definitely would stay again.

This is the hotel I recommend to any of friends and this is where my family stays every single time, the best service at the best price in all downtown Vancouver, it's nice, clean, quiet and the service is good, the only thing is that it does get full in summer or whenever there are activities in Vancouver like in my case last year a bicycle Marathon.

Positive: The Bhrrard has put in a lot of effort to keep up its appearance. The retro look works very well for it and the pictures deliver on the reality. It's not crusty like a Best Western and is very welcoming to all kinds of guests. At least during events, the seems to be a doorman/bouncer who keeps non-guests in check. Negative: Guest parking is minimal but they suggest parking across the street at the hospital until a spot frees up (hospital parking is $9 less than the hotel so we just kept the car there instead. Upon arriving, the front desk concierges weren't the most friendly and when trying to solve a problem, they were helpful but very grudgingly so.

All rooms open to the outside with a courtyard in the middle. Big space under room door, so winters would be cold & drafty. The sink was too small to even wash hands. Walk to everywhere downtown & Stanley Park. Quaint, but mainly for show. Substance was basic.

Stayed twice in this hotel, avoid this noisy front rooms, V8 pickups and sirens will wake you all night! Nicely modernized 1960's? Small courtyard hotel with good public transport links. I would stay again.
