My friend came in with a fever and had puked before walking in. We go to the emergency was in. They take half an hour until they call her. They take her into the room with hospital beds. It's CROWDED. We're lucky we have a curtain but 4 hours later she is STILL HERE. The doctor is nice and some of the nurses are friendly but there are just too many patients and not enough staff. For a fever and body pain she still shouldn't be here. So 2 stars. Why? Because there is blood splattered on the disposal bin for needles and no one has cleaned it up. I told the doctor and he just told me I'm fine if I don't touch it. No. That should be cleaned up.

The mission statement of the hospital is "when in doubt throw them out"..... Doubting your ability to pay whether via health insurance or self....Yes, throw them out .... I stood in horror and amazement and watched a doctor, Dr Kawaja, threaten his patient, my fiancé, with physical force for her to leave with no Discharge plan in place where transportation and medical equipment would not be readily available until days later, namely access-a-ride (which takes weeks to approve) or ambulette and walking apparatus, imperative to mobility in her residence. After complaining to patient relations and social services, a voucher for car service appeared as did hospital security threatening patient with local authorities while patient was still in bed with IV port still attached. As for senior management, the compassion and patient interests become less of a concern the higher up the chain of command you go! As one of the other commentors here reported ...."returned phone calls are non-existent" .....and communication among staff, management and doctors is lacking to a concerning degree. Bedside manner is "insensitive" and "arrogant". Nursing care is slow when it comes to RXs. If you work hard to earn your medical benefits, be prepared to work even harder to use and benefit from those benefits. Patients' rights and appeal processes offered by insurance carriers are disregarded. File a complaint with your insurance and be prepared to spend the next several days on the non-patient list .... Meds and other patient related services cease on doctor's say-so prior to review outcome by IPRO (in her case) and needed to be reinstated. The loss of your dignity as a person is a guarantee! When every hospital is filled to capacity and beds are hard to come by if a patient needs to be admitted, I wondered why there were so many beds empty. With our experience and hearing other patients demanding to leave, I got my answer. I gave 1 star because you can't post without it .... If arrogant, insensitive, egotistic healthcare professionals could fly, this hospital would be an airport!!!

Absolutely horrible service, never honors an appointment, you'll wait for at least an hour past your scheduled appointment. Staff relies on people to pass the message that someone has been called for their appointment they never walked into the waiting room to see if the people can hear them, they'd rather speak through a wall. The seats are dirty, there are no signs to guide you to where you are going from elevator entering, I would never suggest anyone go here, the same way I would never suggest anyone go to Woodhull hospital.

While the entire industry is pushing for and Cherishing the patient-centered care Philosophy , the Brooklyn hospital center is way far to achieve or to even come close to that approach with their current staff, attitude and services. To add to the problem, I'm a health care provider used to work for the hospital from 2005-2009 and now work as an administrator for a different health care organization. the first experience in 2009 when we had our first delivery was great and it seems as if things are getting worse by the time. After the delivery, waited for 6 hours in the delivery unit hallway to be transferred to a bed in mother-baby unit to find out that a bed was available after 3 hours but the floor charge nurse was not ready to take a report for the OB nurse, called up the hospital administrator on duty to be told that things don't usually go that fast. (WOW, 6 hours in a hallway with a lady that gave birth) and the administrator which should have been the mediator failed to do her job. Breast pumps were not available or staff didn't know where they are stored for the entire day and the staff answer was, we will feed the baby formula until we get a breast pump. To make things worse, the negative attitude from the head nurse to the PCA is by far the worst i have seen from a caring professionals. Unfortunately i learned my lesson the hard way

I recently called and spoke to a woman named Maria. She was one of the operators and she was so rude. I asked her a question and she did not want to answer it and even asked me if I had another question because I guess my question wasn't important to her.

I got 2 Surgeries there. They treated me horrible the nurses the doctors the receptionist all have terrible attitudes and hate their jobs. They have no consideration for there patients what so ever. The bed buzzers don't work. The transporter are not careful when moving patients from room to room. The waiting time is super long. If you go to this hospital I feel very sorry for you. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE.
