Very good hotel, in the center of Manhattan, right next to the Empire State Building. The staff is very polite and helpful, and the rooms are perfectly clean and spacious, as the bathroom. The location is perfect, with a lot of restaurants nearby. It's just a perfect place to stay in New-York

Nice hotel with great insides. Rooms are great, comfortable, but the view is not always good. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate is offered for free at anytime.

Great location, but more importantly clean big rooms backed by an excellent staff

The lobby looks nice but in general the staff seemed pretty rude to the other members of my group. The room itself has a wooden flooring that is so warped and scratched up, it actually gave two of us splinters while walking around the room. They have good hot chocolate. The location is ok if you like asian cuisine.

Nice atmosphere. Really close to herald square but pretty quiet once you get in. There's a library seating area and the same classy look throughout the hotel. Elevators are a little small and take a while to go between the floors during primary check in and out times but overall not bad.

Great little hotel in mid town Manhatten, 5 minute walk from the Empire State building and 10 minutes from Macys. Modern looking hotel with old world charm. Great rooms and large bathrooms. Great for exploring what New York has to offer.

Older, somewhat dated hotel hides surprisingly well-maintained rooms.

I was very pleased with my recent stay at The Avalon Hotel. I spent a lot of time researching the hotels in NYC. I ultimately chose The Avalon due to location, price, no shared bathroom, and included mini fridge. (I don't remember if there was a microwave included - because we never needed to use one.) I registered via a GroupOn deal too, so that was helpful. Our Standard room was huge and very clean. We both slept well on the bed. We took advantage of the private safe. You can create your own 4-digit pass code for security. The safe was very easy to use. The hotel is fairly close to two subway stations. It's also fairly close to the Empire State Building, but you don't suffer from intolerable foot traffic. We stayed for 4 nights. Unfortunately, 2 of those nights, when we returned from our adventures, our room key wouldn't work. The front office claimed that our keys must have been stored too close to our phones or credit cards. This may have been the case, but it was a little fishy. The front office staff were able to fix this issue without a problem, though, so it was only a minor inconvenience. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay at The Avalon Hotel and would stay again.
