The 10-minute grace period for council car park charges came into effect this month. What are your thoughts on it? Does it offer enough leeway?
http://www.theaa.com/newsroom/news-2015/council-parking-10-minute-grace-period.html?ito=86060
From April 2015 drivers who park in regulated street spaces or car parks run by councils and overstay by up to 10 minutes will avoid a swingeing penalty charge, the AA advises.

Will motoring issues influence your voting in this week’s general election? #VoteForBetterRoads #GE2015 http://www.theaa.com/newsroom/news-2015/aa-motorists-manifesto-2015.html?ito=86060
UK voters with cars and other vehicles pay more in fuel duty (26.9bn) alone than UK firms and companies pay in business rates (26.8bn) and the equivalent of 97.5% of what is received through council tax (27.5bn). Other motoring taxes raise another 6.1bn in vehicle excise duties, and a further 25bn from VAT on fuel and car sales, company car tax and insurance premium tax.

This week’s #AAMagazine article of the week looks at how ‘Connected’ helmets could help prevent cyclists connecting with car bonnets. #AAMagazine http://www.theaamagazine.com/2015/spring-2015/smart-cycling-helmet?ito=86451
With the growth in cycling, keeping riders protected is rightly at the forefront of the road safety agenda. If there is an impact between a car and a bike, unfortunately there's only going to be one loser. That means much of the focus is on avoiding that collision in the first place.

Your 4th Emergency Service
Introduction

Everyone's heard of the AA. Most people think of the yellow breakdown vans but there's so much more. We help our customers with pretty much anything to do with motoring, driving and travel.

We offer driving lessons, insurance, travel books and car checks. We even have a home emergency breakdown service for plumbing problems.

We're a trusted brand with thousands of loyal customers who come back to us year after year. They know they can rely on us to give them top-notch service. In fact Which? Magazine has awarded us the Recommended Breakdown Provider for the second year running.

We also offer free online services such as AA Route Planner, which has recently provided its one-billionth route. With weather forecasts, walking routes, cycle routes and travel ideas, we have most areas covered.

AA Members can access a range of special discounts and money-can't-buy events through AA Rewards, and our website has lots of driving advice, from how to check your oil to the latest equipment you'll need for driving on the continent.

Oh, the yellow vans. Of course we still do that as well. Our AA patrols have been helping motorists for over 100 years and we now have around 15 million members. One of our patrols saves someone at the roadside every nine seconds.

All of this brilliant stuff doesn't just happen on its own, though. We have thousands of people working all around the country, in hundreds of different jobs keeping the AA running smoothly.
