On last week’s #TBT Jennifer Martin commented that she liked it when AA Patrols used to salute. This week’s #TBT is for you, Jennifer!

Didn't realise that there were that many stupid people, can see why lots of insurers have stopped covering this now.

AA Magazine article of the week:

Michael Vaughan the England cricket legend on the joy of sat-nav, reversing into walls and service station food.

Were you a car fan as a kid? Not really, although I was excited when dad got a new one. He drove Rovers and I remember when he got one with a sunroof. That was a big moment in our family! What did you learn to drive in? My mum's white Vauxhall Nova. I started learning the day of my 17th birthday ...

Looks like the #taxdisc is slow to go.

Is yours still sitting on your windscreen?

Once upon a time these AA phone boxes were our Patrol’s home from home at the roadside. They’re still dotted around the country as heritage items.

Do you know where your nearest one is? #TBT

Nearest to me is probably Aysgarth but we also go past the one at the bottom of Garrowby Hill on the way to Bridlington sometimes.

Your 4th Emergency Service
Introduction

Everyone's heard of the AA. Most people think of the yellow breakdown vans but there's so much more. We help our customers with pretty much anything to do with motoring, driving and travel.

We offer driving lessons, insurance, travel books and car checks. We even have a home emergency breakdown service for plumbing problems.

We're a trusted brand with thousands of loyal customers who come back to us year after year. They know they can rely on us to give them top-notch service. In fact Which? Magazine has awarded us the Recommended Breakdown Provider for the second year running.

We also offer free online services such as AA Route Planner, which has recently provided its one-billionth route. With weather forecasts, walking routes, cycle routes and travel ideas, we have most areas covered.

AA Members can access a range of special discounts and money-can't-buy events through AA Rewards, and our website has lots of driving advice, from how to check your oil to the latest equipment you'll need for driving on the continent.

Oh, the yellow vans. Of course we still do that as well. Our AA patrols have been helping motorists for over 100 years and we now have around 15 million members. One of our patrols saves someone at the roadside every nine seconds.

All of this brilliant stuff doesn't just happen on its own, though. We have thousands of people working all around the country, in hundreds of different jobs keeping the AA running smoothly.
